Many thanks for the response and for checking those Merced sources.
In 1900, Fred & Caroline were residing in Merced County (Judicial District #3) and then in 1910, Fred is shown as a widower, residing in the Volta Precinct, Merced County. This is why I feel that she died and is buried in Merced County.
In 1920 & 1930, Fred was residing in Stockton, San Joaquin County and he died December 3, 1931. I have not acquired a copy of his obituary and will do that soon.
