Dowe Stinson Family

I am looking for the Date of Death and place of burial of my Uncle Dowe Stinson. He was born in Covington Co. Alabama and died between 1990 & 1995 in an unknown place in California.

I would also be interested in hearing from his children. I know he has a son named Brogdon and daughters named Rebecca and Jessica.

Thank you so much for the obits information. You are right I do not have a membership so I am very grateful for all the help everyone has given me regarding this family Hopefully I will be able to make some contact with the remaining children to get some more input. It is so sad that the family in Canada lost touch with the Watsonfamily when they moved to the US. and it seems people of that age didn't put a lot of caring into their family guess they were do busy with the day to day things. Thank you so much for all your help. I have now been able to find the second daughter Josephine and family. If you are ever able to find out if there are any of the Thole family ie Henry E or Barbara's family still living or any of Elmer George Haskin family I would be ever so grateful. Up until a week or so ago all we knew was that Joseph and Mary Ann had been killed in a level crossing accident in 1925 didn't know about who children were or anything. We are very grateful for all your help.

Thanks so much for your help. I'm checking dates and hoping that "Jean" might be the wife that I'm looking for. That will make it a bit easier to find the marriage license. The fact that he came back to Loraine, Ohio sure fits the picture. I will check Santa Barbara Co., California for possible marriage license. Hopefully, I"ll be able to find out what Jean's maiden name is. Thanks again.

Not related...

In 1946, 1948 there is an Edmund C Boroski and a Jean Boroski living at 188 El Sueno Rd Santa Barbara and then in Goleta in 1949. He was working at The Singer Sewing Machine Co and she at SPM Co.. In 1947 they are listed in Lorain Ohio at 523 W. 23rd st.

Not much, but it does give you a first name in which to work with.

Thank you for trying to help. I believe Edmond would have been back in Ohio in 1949 so I think the 1st marriage happened while he was in the service. I'll do some more investigating though as far as to everywhere he was stationed in California.

The CA Marriage index starts in 1949. Prior to this year you would have to research a marriage at the county level. CA has 58 counties......

Thank you. I have copies--some are original- of the items you have enclosed, however, I'm looking for a Cal. marriage license. Edmond was married prior to marrying JoAnn Domino.
He was married sometime when he was in California, prior to his coming back home to Ohio. I'm told that he brought the woman home once, but no one remembers who she was, and he evidently got a divorce and later married JoAnn, who was his wife when he died. Can anyone check marriage licenses in California for me? I know he was in San Louis Abispo for awhile when he was out there. Thanks for your help.

I am trying to find an marriage license for Edmond Carl Boroski who was born on Oct. 15, 1922 in Ohio. He joined the Marines in 1942 and spent part of that time stationed in California during World War 2. That's when I believe he married. He was discharged in 1946. and must have divorced. Later, he married JoAnn Domino in Angola, Indiana. Can anyone check to see if there is a license for his marriage in California, Please? Thank you.

If you enter the name Susan Thole on Ancestry
you'll see an article from 1925 in the Oakland
Tribune concerning the deaths of the Watsons and
their estate. Susan Watson Thole died in 1973
in Sonoma county.

Jospeh was born in 1854 in Ireland and came to Canada in 1881 where he married Mary Ann Margaret Bittles. The only information that I have on them was they were killed in a level crossing accident in 1925 and one of the cousin who has since passed away said that she remembered them when they came to visit she and her parents in Sacramento and that they had children with them and she thought it was a boy and a girl. Suggest you order his death certificate from LA county - you'll then know where he lived at the time of his death, the informant, where he is buried and funeral home that handled the arrangements. Los Angeles county is large. It's possible an obit appeared in one of the many small newspapers in the county but you need to know where he resided at the time of death to even start searching. If anything appeared in the LA Times it was just a death listing which is what you have from the CA death index:

Finding an obituary from that far back is not likely to be successful . Unless they were a prominent person or,from a small town, obituaries were not that common .

Hi Chris,

I do hope that Julie gets back with you. I am not sure if Dale is now in California or Nevada. I feel badly that I didn't find her last year, I began my search in March of last year when her cousin Loyal suffered a bad fall and was hospitalized, and hit a dead end in Hendserson, NV. Julie is the one who has the answers, but neither of us have a way to contact her other than this thread, which she may never look at again.

I am involved with the estate of F. Loyal Greer, who was a cousing of Dale Manning Cox. Loyal left a small sum for Dale, and I would like her to get it. Do you have a phone number for Julie, or an address? Dale did live in Carson, CA until 2004, and she then moved. I think she moved to Henderson, NV as I found a location for her there. The CA marriage index is only available through 1986 - no marriage found for him; you will have to research marriages at the county level. Suggest you post the message board for Orange county, which is where he was born.....

Living Relatives of Irma Lee of CA

I am looking to find any living relatives related to Irma Lee or her daughter Erika. Irma was born on 5 Aug 1909 most probably in Bratislava, Slovakia/Hungary and died in CA on 15 Dec 2011. Irma was married to David Spitzer, probably the father of Erika, but divorced him and took the surname Lee. I don’t know if there was a second husband or not.

Irma’s parents were Joseph Federweiss and Regina Spitzer who, at some point, migrated from Bratislava to Palestine/Israel.
