Looking for the family of David Proffitt Summers

David Proffitt Summers and Maggie Fulfer Summers had 3 daughters. Jewell born in 1906 in Oklahoma, Mabel born in 1907 in Kansas and Myrtle in 1910 in Kansas. The 1920 Census shows them in New Mexico. The 1930 US Census-Colorado-Otero-Precinct 6 shows David & Maggie living there with their daughters Mabel married to Ernest Jett and Myrtle E. married to Henry M. Ancell living next door. It shows nothing of Jewell. I have seen nothing since she lived in New Mexico in 1920. Does anyone have any information on Jewell? Does anyone have any records of where David, Maggie, Mabel, and their husbands and Mabel had a son Irvin L. listed on the 1930 census? Please let me know.

I have a great-aunt who is buried in a cemetery that, I think, is north of Ordway and located on the left side of the road going out of town. We visited Ordway several years ago and someone at City Hall gave us directions to the cemetery and where to find her marked grave. Just inside the gate, we took a right and didn't walk very far before we found her grave.

Could I get someone to take a digital pic of her marker for me and one of the gate showing the name of the cemetery? Her infant son Morris Heddlesten may be buried beside her. Name on the marker may just have one or both of her given names; i.e. Nancy Ellen Heddlesten, b. 9/21/1872; d. 2/7/1908.

I will be happy to pay expenses or compensate the favor by doing lookups in Gregg Co., TX for someone. I have access to most of the books of the cemeteries in the county plus books of obits and funeral home records. I also maintain burial records for the old Rosedale Cemetery in Gladewater, Gregg Co., TX where we have many buried from the oil boom days of the 1930's.

Thank you very kindly for any assistance.

Etta Stephens Withers
Gladewater, Gregg Co., TX

MCCLELLAN;BOLLINGER;BOSTON FARM in CROWLEY

Here comes a long and rather disjointed query. I'm looking for any information on HENRY "HANK" MCCLELLAN in Crowley during the early and mid 1900's. Uncle Hank (my father's uncle) had a ranch/farm outside Crowley. Before that he lived with his mother and her husband "Captain" BOLLINGER in a great big house on a place called the BOSTON FARM. Hank's mother would be my gr.grandmother, but I don't know her 1st name. My father, JOSEPH MCCLELLAN, lived with his Uncle Hank both on the Boston Farm, and later on the ranch. Henry Mcclellan married WINNIE (i don't know her maiden name), and they raised my father for several years. Things are not too clear, but It seems that my father (JOSEPH) left Crowley with a friend named FRED BREWER when he was about 16 or 17 (around 1918) to go "seek his fortune". Henry and Winnie remained on the ranch until he was killed in a tractor fire in the early 1950's. Aunt Winnie later married "RED" (maybe Ernest) LUNDAHL and they lived on his ranch/farm until her death sometine in the 60's. Red has since passed away too. Though not a relative, he was very dear to our Aunt Winnie, and very kind to us when we visited. I know that he had a daughter named EARLINE who was married to a Hughes or a Wright (two other families I remember meeting at a round-up. I have no family records, and there is no one left to ask. I would really like to know some of the history of these families, especially any info. on my father (JOSEPH MCCLELLAN) and my gr. grandmother BOLLINGER!!!

October 1, 1900

Ada Prouty-Agnew was born mear Grundy Center, Iowa, March 1, 1874. She was married to Thomas Agnew at Williams, Iowa, November 7, 1894. Died at Ordway, Col., September 26, 1900. Deceased leaves a husband, two sons, four and and two years old, Thomas L. and Arla D., a mother, brothers and other relatives, besides many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Agnew came to Colorado in December in hopes that a change of climate might improve her health. They were here but a short time til she began to improve. She grew better gradually and they were greatly encouraged. In July other complications set in, superinduced by her former trouble --the terrible consumption--and she failed fast. During her sickness she was an example to us all in patience and her trust in God. Was ready and willing to die: her only regret was leaving her husband and little ones.

Mrs. Agnew possessed a fine intellect and commanded respect by every one who met her. To know her was to love her. The remains were shipped to her former home, near Blairsburg, Iowa, for internment, accompanied by her family and her mother and uncle, who arrived here about two weeks ago from Iowa. The family and friends have the sympathy of this entire community.

Mrs. Callie A. Miller, Ordway, Col. I have accounted for three of the couples children: Anna Elisabeth who married George Reiswig; John who married Anna Margaret Melcher; and Henry married to Marie Manweiler. The latter couple are also buried in Lakeview.
The two missing girls are Maria Elisabeth Kammerzell. She was supposed to have married a man with the surname of Geist. The other missing girl is believed to be Mary and that is all I have. They died sometime before their father's death in 1947. They were probably born in Walter, Saratov Province, Russia
Thanks in anticpation

Mr. Kammerzell, a native of Russia, immigrated to this country with a
wife and some daughters. One or two more daughters were born in this
country.

He was the maternal grandfather to my relative, who would like to find
out what happened to him, and where he is buried. His wife died shortly
after the birth of their youngest daughter, Ruth. He raised all the
daughters alone in Portland, Oregon and then moved to Sugar City,
Colorado sometime after 1910, my relative believes. He was a marshall
in Sugar City, my relative guessing about 1918-1922.

My relative would like to know:

1. When he lived in Sugar City.
2. Did he die there?
3. Was he buried there.
4. Any information about the years he spent there.

If it helps any, the daughters' names were Lizzie, Katie (9-28-1891),
Margaret, Dena, and Ruth. Katie was the mother to my relative. Ruth
was born on a train going from New York to Odessa, Washington. The
grandmother died close to Odessa, Washington.

Mr. Kammerzell was a farmer most of his life. In Russia he also drove a
whiskey wagon.

I would appreciate a quick
response, as I have been promising my relative some information for
quite some time.

Thank you.

I am looking for information on the family of a great-great uncle that may have lived in the area of Olney Springs. I do not have anything that definitely tells me that this family was there. Walter's daughter Grace was born on 5 June on 1887. I know that she was born in Colorado, but the other only information I have is that she was born in either _________ Springs or __________Wells near the Colorado border.
If anyone has information about this family I would appreciate the help. Annie divorced Walter I believe soon after Grace's birth and eventually went to California.

Could someone with access to the county County Courthouse look up a marriage date for me? Orlo W Trabert married Rosela Grace Sherin on May 27, 1908. Sometime after that, possibly in the 1920's or 1930's he married Lottie M unknown. Orlo was born in 1886 in KS and died in 1938, I think in Ordway, CO and is buried in the Ordway Cemetery. Rosela Grace is buried there too, but I don't know her death date. Lottie unknown was born in 1893 and died in 1953 and I think is buried in the same plot as Orlo and Rosela, with some children possibly.

Thank you very much for anything anyone can do for me.
Cathy Johnson

Good morning Listers,

Is there anyone on this List who has any books about the history of Sugar City? Also cemetery look-ups?

My husband's great grandfather, John Henry (Harry) Abel was the General Manager of the National Sugar Company in the 1920s. I wonder if there is any mention of him in any of the histories? His family was friends with the Careys who were instrumental in this company. He came from Baltimore, MD to manage.

His wife was Eileen Richards, daughter of Lawrence A. Richards and Zaidee B. Barker. They lived in Rocky Ford for awhile, but I know they were in Sugar City in the 1920 census. According to family records, Eileen was the only girl in her high school graduating class in Sugar City. I believe this would have been about 1916. Are there any records or yearbooks from the HS in Sugar City?

John Abel was piloting a 2 passenger plane from Pueblo to Sugar City on March 21, 1930 when his plane crashed in Sugar City, killing him and his passenger. I have the obit on that from the Pueblo Chieftain.

I am especially interested in knowing if Lawrence and Zaidee are buried in Sugar City. Lawrence died June 22, 1937 and Zaidee died January 13, 1930.

I live in Pueblo, CO and would like to plan a trip to Sugar City, but it would be nice to know ahead of time if they are buried in the area.

Many thanks for any information.

Laurel

Also, would like to have a picture taken of the tombstone in the Lakeview Cemetery for Mary Hrabcak Sandris who was buried there on Jan. 10, 1931 ( I believe twins are buried with her as she died trying to give birth to them).

If you can help I'd appreciate it.

Is there a name for this cemetery? Does it have a directory or has it been recorded. There may not be a headstone on this grave; if not would like to place one.

Hubert MILLER/Lydia BUTTS

Hubert MILLER, age 18, was md. to Lydia D. BUTTS, age 16, on March 22, 1919 in Crowley Co., CO (cert. #3840) by C. C. WOOLDRIDGE, a County Judge of Ordway, CO. Apparently, Lydia (b. 18 Sep 1902 in OK) died of typhoid just a few months later (on Oct 31, 1919? although no death cert seems to have been filed) and buried in Sugar City, CO. Hubert was referred to as a town boy, in contrast to Lydia who lived in a rural area. I am trying to get specific dates on Hubert, b. abt 1901, even though it looks like he and Lydia had no children.

Thanks,
Susan
