Olaf Alfred “Ole” Olson, 84, of Loveland, a survivor of Pearl Harbor, died April 30, 2004.
He was born April 21, 1920, in Flagler to Olaf Martin and Luella Schwyn Olson.
When he was 18, Mr. Olson enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the USS Utah. He was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor and was honorably discharged Oct. 26, 1942.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
On Aug. 26, 1944, he married Betty Lou Borgens. The couple had seven children.
They lived in Colorado Springs after they married then later moved to the Fort Collins area, where Mr. Olson worked at the Ideal Cement Co.
Later, he worked as a port of entry officer for the state of Colorado until retiring in 1981.
His family remembers him as a proud, hard-working man with a great sense of humor and compassion for life. He cherished time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Kathy Parr and husband Mike, Susan Branom and husband Sam, Betty Lynn Rogers and husband Glenn, Cindy Cardinelli and husband Jr., and Pam Olson; sons, Lanny Olson and wife Rachael and Jon Olson and wife Kathy; sister, Gladys Simonis, 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the World War II Memorial in care of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Military honors will be by the Associated Veterans of Loveland.
