Minard R HALL was born about 1845 in Rome, Oneida Co., NY, and was buried in Cedar Cemetery in Montrose in October 1916. Mr. Hall and his family moved to Montrose from Norwood,CO between 1900 and 1903; the 1910 census shows them living at 12 N Selig Avenue. Evidently this was a hotel as Mr. Hall's occupation is listed as hotel manager, and his wife is the hotel housekeeper. I am seeking information about the hotel on Selig Avenue where the Halls seem to have lived. I would also be interested to know if there is a photo and/or an obituary of Mr. Hall available, although the closest I can pinpoint his date of death is October 1916.

I would be happy to provide additional information about Mr. Hall and his family, if needed.

Thanks!

Ann Boll

This is my brick wall. I am looking for information on Willis or Joseph Huey. Not 100% sure of his name. My grandfather thought it might be Willis.
Willis Joseph Huey was born abt 1843 or 1846 in Alabama and died sometime before 1900 in Colorado. I was told this story by my grandparents (Wallace was Josephs grandson): "Joseph was good at geology. He migrated to Colorado and worked in mines. He had been called away to work in another mine and was never seen or heard from again. The family returned to Lindale, TX. He is listed with his family on the 1885 Mesa Colorado census. His wife Clementine is listed on the 1900 census in Lindale, Smith, Texas as a widow."
Facts are: (1) listed as Joseph Hewey on 1880 US Census in Tom Green County, Texas (age 37) with Clementine and 2 children. (2) Listed as J H Huey on 1885 Colorado State Census with N C Huey and children. (3)Listed as W. H. Hughey on marriage certificate to Narcissus Clementine Fleming Apr 29, 1871. (4) Listed as Willis Huey on Lillie June Huey Thomas (daughter) Death Certificate. (5) Listed as Joe Huey on Gussie Lee Huey (son) death certificate.
(6) Had 6 children: William Amos Huey b. 1874, Carrie Ola Huey (Goodman) b. 1879, Lillie June Huey (Thomas) b. 1885, Gussie Lee Huey b. 1887, Dasie Huey (Vaughn) b.1883, Thomas "TT" Huey b.1881.
If anyone has any information about this Willis or Joseph or William Huey Please email me at shanblan4@gmail.com

They only have one crumbled picture of Patrick and Laura when they were newly married. ...I personally would like to have a picture (or copy)of them.

My Dad (Nettie's oldest son)was suppose to have looked like Lee...and therefore was nicked named Pat.

Minnie and Margaret would know more about Patrick and Laura.
Details of Patricks childhood....adopted or left to make his own way.... I have some details about Laura's dad and mother....

IF Nettie knew of any history of Laura or Lee...it never got down to my dad or his brother.... but Nettie was a story unto herself....

I have pictures of Laura when she was elderly and I was an infant......we visited with her several times before she passed away.

Any info you can pass to me and anything I can pass to you I would LOVE to share..... I simply want to know who I am and where I came from!!!!

Thanks for attention,

Look forward to hearing from you.

Dolores ANDREWS Coleman

I have about 3 or 4 different spellings for maiden name and cannot find any info with any of the names. She married Thomas Frederick Harrison July 14, 1923. I would really love a copy of marraige certificate or just a maiden name with correct spelling.

Does some one have an old high school annual from the time period around 1920 that might have her photo, and would be kind enough to scan it to me in email.
Thanks so much
Mary Parker Smith

PARKER, Bruce R. - Dec 25, 1896 - Sept 1, 1953.
I'm trying to find the marriage place of my uncle and aunt, Howard and Alice (nee Sharpe) Hagen, who were married 29 June 1946. She graduated from Montrose High School in 1933 so may have been married there. Is there an index of marriages available for that period of time for Montrose County? If not, could someone please look in the local newspaper a few issues after that date for a wedding announcement? The Colorado Historical Society has copies of the newspaper but will not inter-library loan them. Many thanks.

1920 Census indicates that the Thorniley lived on Pea Green Road. There is a Pea Green Cemetery. Colorado Genweb CO Archives has transcripts done in 2001 and in 2003 and there aren't any Thornily's listed in the transcripts. I did notice that the 2003 transcript is done in a row by row manner and indicates a large number of unmarked graves. It may very well be that your Thorniley's graves are among them. I also checked their online transcripts for the Olathe and Ash Mesa Cemeteries and found nothing. I checked the remainder of the Montrose County cemetery indexes and found nothing. I checked Findagrave. com's listing for the Delta Cemetery and found nothing. Do you have complete dates for their deaths? Perhaps there was an obituary printed?

He was born Aug 27 1900 at Atwood, KS, the son of Stephen B and Rose Elizabeth McDougal Chance.
Don't get to Montrose frequently, but did so today. I didn't find mention of the passing of George Thornily in the Montrose Daily Press, but did find an obit published in The Olathe Criterion, 7 Sep 1928 pg 1. Interesting as you will see. I was unable to obtain a hardcopy as the computer that runs the program that prints the images from the microfilm was down for repairs. Anyway, the details are as follows: Death of George Thornily. The community was saddened Thursday on learning of the death of Mr George Thornily of the Pea Green district. Mr Thornily has been ill for a month and his death was not unexpected. He is survived by his wife, one son, Hi Thornily, a daughter Mrs George McKnight, and one grandson and a number of relatives. Funeral services were held at the Delta funeral parlor and were conducted by Rev Peters. Mr Thornily was 80 years, 3 months, and 13 days of age. The family came from Irington 30 years ago and have since lived on California Mesa where they have built up a beautiful home. The pallbearers were James and William Meldrum, Lee Price, Smith Wagner, William Jeffers, Howard Lathorp and Coy Powell. The was taken to Pueblo where services were held Saturday. Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.

Additionally, in searching ancestry.com there is a George A and Cecil M McKnight listed in the California Voter Registrations and the 1930 census for Alameda Co, California. The 1930 Alameda Co Census gives place of birth for George as Virginia and Cecil as Colorado. Perhaps they are the George and Cecil you are searching for.

This is all that I'm able to accomplish at this time. Hope that you find it of some interest :) Happy Searching.

Obits for Cora, Rupert "Jack", and Lena Seago in the Montrose Daily Press: Cora's obit is very brief and non-informative: Grandma Seago, pioneer resident of the Riverside area, died recently, funeral was Tues Jun 8 1937 with burial in Grand View Cemetery and then lists singers and pallbearers. "Jack" Seago was more informative stating he was born Mar 28 1890 in Kane, IL to Johnnie and Cora (Helber) Seago. He married Lena D Jameson Dec 15 1917 at Dumas, TX. Lena D Seago died Apr 3 1985 in Delta, Colorado. Husband deceased. Burial at Grand View Cemetery.

Matthew Sullivan and Kate Mahoney were born in County Kerry, Ireland. They came to the US at different times and married in 1893. Soon after they moved to Montrose and started their family. Their children are:
John, Grace, Mathew, Harrold, Gladys, Helen, Timothy and Mary. Are any of their decendants still living in the area? I'm hoping to find out the names of Matthew and Kate's parents and the town in County Kerry they were born in.

Thanks for the obit; it was helpful. I was puzzled by the name of the city "Irington" in the obit. I'm thinking perhaps it was meant to be "Ironton."

From the obit, it appears that George's remains went to Pueblo for burial. Their daughter Maud (1883-1900) died there. As yet I do not know what cemetery they are in.

George C. Thorniley died August 30, 1928, at the age of 80, and his son Hiram Franklin Thorniley died in May of 1964, at the age of 79. George's wife Safrona Mayfield died sometime after 1938. ... An obit for either George or Hiram would be great. It would also give me some clues as to where to look for daughter Cecil Madge Thorniley. She married George McKnight in 1925.

George C. Thorniley (1848-1928) and his wife Safrona Mayfield (1863-1938) lived and farmed in or near Olathe. I am looking for the cemetery where they were buried. Their son Hiram Franklin Thorniley (1885-1964) may also be buried there.
