Philip William Schulz died February 15, 1999 in Grove, OK at the age of 78. He was born May 2, 1920 in Phillips County to William P. and Lillian [McVey] Schulz.

Philip attended Hilltop, Pleasant Valley and Amitie schools, graduating from Phillips County High School in 1938. He attended Colorado Teachers College in Greeley and was in the United States Army from 1942 until 1946, commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.

While stationed at Fort Sill, OK, Philip met and married Paulne Trompeter on February 25, 1945. After the war, they moved to Holyoke and eventually took over the family farm. They had three daughters.

Pauline passed away October 6, 1976. Philip married Faith Heilman on August 20, 1977. She passed away on June 7, 1980.

Philip retired to South Padre Island, TX in January of 1981. With his health failing, he moved to Grove, OK in April of 1998 to live with his daughter Pam.

During his recuperation, he enjoyed listening to talking books and music. Later Philip spent a great deal of time on woodworking and craft projects. He went to the Senior Center three times a week for lunch and a game of pool, and he always looked forward to being outdoors and fishing. Philip especially appreciated phone calls and playing cards, dominoes, or chess or just watching all the activity on the lake.

Philip was a member of numerous farm organizations, the VFW, American Legion and the United States Power Squadron. He was on the Holyoke School Board for many years.

Philips is survived by his three daughters, Pam Gerstner and husband Rudy of Grove, OK; Sandra Wickham and husband John of Colorado Springs; and Jan Krueger of Glenwood Springs; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be in the Holyoke Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Phillips County Museum in Holyoke.
