Albert D. Sammon - Pueblo Chieftain - May 24, 2000 - Albert D. Sammon, 74, of Pueblo, passed away May 22, 2000. Mr. Sammon retired from the CF&I after 34 years of service. He was an avid Broncos and John Elway fan and loved golf, taking trips to Cripple Creek and watching wrestling. Preceded in death by his parents, Jack W. and Mary Sammon; his wife of 50 years, Lanette, in 1995; and son, Mitchell. Survivors include his children, Albert C. (Donna) Sammon, Jerry (Kum Sun) Sammon, Joyce (Glen) Butler and Michael Sammon; grandchildren, Christina, Barry, Jerry, David and Michelle; great-grandchildren, Sierra, Lanette, Cameron, Bryce, Brittany and Angel; brothers, Robert (Rose) and Gilbert (Rachel) Sammon; sisters, Nora (Ted) Stillwell, Josephine Cable, Bessie Sammon and Evelyn (Ed) Clark; and sister-in-law, LaVern (Ralph) Blood. Viewing from noon until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with funeral service to be at 3 p.m. Friday at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel. Interment to be at Imperial Memorial Gardens.

Sammon, Gilbert P.
Gilbert P. Sammon - Pueblo Chieftain - November 14, 2006 - Gilbert P. "Sam" Sammon, 81, passed away on Nov. 10, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Sammon; one brother; two sisters; his son, Red; and his daughter, Linda. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rachel; and his son, Chuck of the family home; grandchildren, Mary Louise (Steve) McMichael, Rondi Richardson, Marci and Devin Sammon; four great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lori Sammon; brother, Robert (Rose) Sammon; sisters, Nora Stillwell, Josephine Cable, Bessie Ortego and Evelyn (Ed) Clark; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Sam was a member of the Steel City Eagles FOE No. 3367, the American Legion Post No. 2, VFW No. 61 and the Steel City DAV No. 39. A special thank-you to Donna Zinanti "the pill lady" for her friendship and loving care of Sam. Rosary and funeral Mass, 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, Holy Family Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Military honors by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.

Jack Sammon - Pueblo Chieftain - July 16, 1964 - Jack Sammon, 419 W. 17th passed away in Trinidad late Tuesday. He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Sammon of the family home and the father of Robert Sammon, Mrs. Mary Ironshell; Gilbert Sammon and Albert Sammon, all of Pueblo; Mrs. Nora Stillwell, New Orleans; Mrs. Josephine Holder, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Bessie Fernandez, New Orleans, and Mrs. Evelyn Clark, St. Louis. The brother of Bill Sammon, Pueblo; Mrs. Ruby LeFebre Pueblo; Mrs. Elizabeth Styles, Springer N.M. and Mrs. Bessie Caldwell, Walla Walla, Wash. The grandfather of 30. Mr. Sammon was a veteran of WW1 and a 30 year resident of Pueblo. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Arrangements will be announced later. Jack W. Sammon - Pueblo Chieftain - July 17, 1964 - Funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in Valhalla's Garden Chapel, conducted by First Councilor John Ray. Interment will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park.

Sammon, Jerry M. Sr.
Jerry M. Sammon Sr. - Pueblo Chieftain - March 08, 2006 - Jerry M. Sammon Sr., 58, passed away March 6, 2006. Survived by his wife, Cho Sammon; children, Jerry M. Sammon Jr., Michelle, David (Amada) Sammon; two grandchildren, Angel and Josh; siblings, Albert (Donna) Sammon, Joyce Butler and Michael Sammon; numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, one niece and other family members; special friend, Marty Martinez; and many other friends. Jerry loved to fish and hunt, and take trips to Las Vegas and Cripple Creek. He worked at CF&I for over 30 years. Visitation, 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Graveside service, 2 p.m. Friday, Imperial Memorial Gardens.

Sammon, Margaret
Margaret Sammon - Pueblo Chieftain - October 13, 2002 - Margaret Sammon, 80, of Canon City, died Oct. 11, 2002. She was born on July 4, 1922, in Ramey (Near Ludlow), Colo., to Frank Roybel and Minnie Vigil. She was married to William Sammon. Mr. Sammon preceded her in death in 1993. She was an avid Bronco and baseball fan. An accomplished seamstress and cook, who loved to feed everyone. Margaret never knew a stranger, with her door always open for not only family, but to all that passed by. In her younger years, Margaret loved to spend time with family and friends camping and fishing in the Colorado mountains. Margaret never learned to drive, but life was always a journey which took her to many destinations throughout the United States. Mrs. Sammon is survived by children, Dorothy Gomez, Patricia Rainey, George (Debbie) Sammon, Ruth (Leonard) Martinez, Steven Hogue and Karla (Jeff) Sammon; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, (Jeanette Casaus, Mabel Taylor, Jim Sammon, Edward (Myrtle) Sammon, Hurley (Dorothy) Sammon, Lorraine Maestas and William (Hugh) Sammon; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law and two very special great-grandchildren, Courtney Dale Martinez and Chasmon Rainey. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at St. Benedict's, 622 W. 2nd St. Florence, Colo. Father Michael Murray, OSB, will be officiating the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Fremont County.

Mary R. Sammon - Pueblo Chieftain - November 20, 1996 - Mary R. Sammon, formerly of Pueblo, passed away Nov. 18, 1996, in La Place, La. Preceded in death by husband, Jack W. Sammon, in 1964; daughters, Betty, in 1941, and Mary Ann Geonetta, in 1994; sister, Frances Tafoya. She is survived by her children, Robert (Rose) Sammon, Gilbert (Rachel) Sammon, and Albert Sammon, all of Pueblo, Nora (Ted) Stillwell, La Place, La., Josephine Cable, Spencer, Okla., Bessie (Robert) Ortego, Kenner, La., and Evelyn (Edward) Clark, St. Charles, Mo. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral service, 2 p.m. Friday, McCarthy-Comer Garden Chapel, conducted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Second Ward. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by McCarthy-Comer Funeral Home, 2710 N. Elizabeth.

Ronald "Red" Sammon - Pueblo Chieftain - May 02, 2001 - Ronald "Red" Sammon, age 51, departed this life on May 1, 2001, due to a prolonged illness. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 21 years, Laura Sammon; his parents, Gilbert and Rachel Sammon; and his brother, Chuck Sammon. Father of Meri Louise (Steve) McMichael, Rondi (Branden) Richardson, Marci Sammon, Regina (Lionel) Amos, Robert Tafoya, Denise (Wes) Brown and Tim Flower. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; numerous aunts and uncles; and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his sister, Linda Sammon. Red was a member of Steel City Eagles No. 3367 (FOE). Viewing, Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Rosary and Funeral Mass, Friday, 10 a.m., Holy Family Church. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald Sammon Memorial Fund through Minnequa Bank.

Sammons, Shirley Ann
Shirley Ann Sammons - Huerfano World - March 4, 2004 - Shirley Ann Sammons, age 70, died Feb. 8, 2004 in Prescott, AZ, from a heart attack. She was born in Walsenburg on Aug, 18, 1933 to Ruth and James McFie. She attended Huerfano County High School, where she was known as Ann McFie or "Mac." While at HCHS, she participated in pep club as a twirler, played flute in the band, was an attendant for the football queen in her junior and senior years, and was one of the Class of 1951 Valedictorians. After graduating, Ann attended Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University), was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Foods and Nutrition. She married Clifton C. Sammons in 1955, and throughout his career as a mining engineer, they traveled globally with their four children. At the age of 38, she took refresher courses at Arizona State University to complete requirements for her American Dietetics Association registration, and then accepted a position as a clinical dietician in Phoenix, AZ. In 1977, she began her career with the Veteran's Administration, working in Albuquerque, NM, Denver, and then Prescott, AZ., She retired as the Chief of Dietetic Services in 1995. Upon retiring in Prescott, Ann truly enjoyed her membership and officer's position with the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). She was an active member of the congregation and volunteered at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. In addition to having a passion for reading, she was an avid student of history, taking regular courses at Yavapai Learning Center. Retirement also allowed Ann to visit her sister, and her children and grandchildren often. Ann is survived by her sister, Nancy Rutherford and husband Robert, of Tigard, OR. She also is survived by her four children, Jill, Tobey and fiancé Doug Hudspeth, of Tempe, AZ; Jaclyn Brock and husband Bret, of Rosanky, TX; Jeff Sammons and wife Susan, of Las Vegas, NV; and Jane Tanaka and husband Tom, of Lakewood, CA. Also surviving her are her seven grandchildren: Stephanie, Jennifer, and Courtney Sammons, Kala and Cheryl Brock, Scott Tobey, and Melanie Tanaka. A memorial service was held in Prescott, AZ, on Feb. 14, 2004 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. A burial service will be held in Florence, CO. Memorial contributions may be made to any of Ann's favorite: American Heart Association; American Red Cross, Grand Canyon Chapter; Salvation Army; Tufts University, Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy; Yavapai Humane Society.
