Florence A Mitchell was born in Pueblo in May 1889. Her father is Douglass Mitchell, the son of Mary Florence Broadwell Mitchell Monroe (the wife of Charles Monroe of Pueblo).

The family eventually moved on to Denver by the late 1890s and then on to Los Angeles by 1900. Florence A Mitchell remained in the household of her grandmother until her marriage about 1914.

Her mother is unknown and may have died while Florence was an infant. Douglass is listed in the 1900 Los Angeles County CA census as widowed.

I run into a problem with the birth record of Florence's daughter. It states that the mother's (Florence A Mitchell) maiden name is Ashby. The daughter, named Virginia Ashby Little, has been given that name as her middle name. I am not sure if Ventura County CA just made an error or if Florence gave *her* mother's maiden name for the record.

I am looking to identify any female Ashby who would have been in Pueblo about 1887/1888, who would have married Douglass Mitchell and may have died in the early 1890s. She would have been born in Virginia (as per Florence's census listings 1900-1930).
