Happy, Happy Christmas!
Once I signed off, I couldn't lose track of the fact that between you, Roger and myself, there were too many coincidences!
So as I enjoyed my peanut butter sandwich I read some of the fine print in my book's decendancy chart.
Thomas Nichols(3)m,b.1723 d.1798settled Danby,Vt.1780, m.(1)Mary---(2)Elizabeth Reynolds dau. James and Hannah (Jenkins). by Mary he had son Anthony, b.Nov.14,1752d.July 6,1822. Anthony m. (1)Alice Greene, dau.David Greene & Alice (Hall). Anthony(5) m.(2)Anna Wood, Sept.14,1774.
Children by Mary Wood included Peleg, Isaac, and Daniel Nichols. I do not have time now to go thru my files, but certainly we can't rule out a David since Alice's father was David Greene.
Also, in pencilied notes I have written "James Nichols Jr. witnessed a deed in Salisbury, Ct. 1767 (or '69-poor copy") And: and "James Nichols& Chris. Dutcher (DeDuyster - Catherine White's mother's surname)were of Canaan 1738-39. James(2)was son of James and Mercy (Reynolds) Nichols.
And: R.I Genealogical Register April 1979,p.234, states William Reynolds m. (2)Mary Nichols dau. Samuel Nichols b. 1725.
