My Grt Grt Grandmother went as a nurse to Delaware and was Matron of The Sheltering Arms foundling hospital 77 Franklin Streetin the 1880s. I wonder if anyone has come across this hospital. I dont know if it is still there or not. I have googled but got nowhere and have contacted Philadelphia free library so am hoping for something from them.Her married name was Ann Parkinson. She died at the Episcopal hospital Jan 21st 1889.
