Hiram Brittingham of Sussex Co. DE
I am researching the Hiram Brittingham line from Sussex County Delaware. Hiram was born Oct. 22, 1835 or 36 in MD and was the son of John Brittingham. I have found an Orphan's Court record in Worcester Co. which proves that -- this is what was listed:
Hyram B. Brittingham
That Hyram B. Brittingham was indentured to Matthais Brittingham to learn the art of farming. He will be 21 years old on 22 October 1857. Hyram the son of John Brittingham, deceased. Also, John H. Brittingham indentured to Matthais Brittingham to learn the art of farming. He will be 21 on 22 November 1854, John H. is the son of John Brittingham, deceased. Document date 21 March 1842.
Hiram later married Sarah Leah Luvenia Elliot abt. 1857 in Worcester. According to the 1900 Sussex Co. De census Sarah Leah stated she had had 13 children and 11 were living at the time of the 1900 census. Here is a partial list of their children, etc:
