Mr. Christopher DeWitt Tomlin, 49, of Dobson passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Hoots Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Duvall County, Florida on December 10, 1960 to Reba Elizabeth Norris Tomlin and the late John Timmons Tomlin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Mrs. Jan Denise Gates Tomlin of the home; two daughters, Ashley Michelle Tomlin of Dobson and Heather Lynn Wright of Hamptonville; a son, Joshua Shane Wright; three grandchildren, Austin Tyler Wright, Tyler Allen Halstead and Aaron Randall Wright; his mother, Mrs. Reba Elizabeth Norris Tomlin of Melbourne, Florida; three sisters, Diane Wood of Melbourne Florida, Wanda McDermon of Crestview, Florida and Elizabeth Cook of Jacksonville, Florida; and four brothers Bill Tomlin of Farmville, South Carolina, "Pete" Tomlin of Jacksonville, Florida, Al Tomlin of Courtney, North Carolina and Danny Tomlin of Chipley, Florida.
In addition to his father, Mr. Tomlin was preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb Lineberry Wright.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 5 PM Saturday January 30, 2010 at Second Chance Church by Rev. Terry Coe. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Chris Tomlin Funeral Fund, c/o Moody-Davis Funeral Home PO Box 295 Dobson, NC 27017 to assist the family with expenses. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is assisting the Tomlin Family.
