I am not directly related to the Broomes, however I am trying to solve a mystery that I think involves my 3rd great grandfather Thomas H. Macon. In the 1850 Census in Leon County there is a 7 year old Thomas H. Macon shown living at the residence of James Emelius Broome. Broome was married at the time to a woman named Henrietta I think. But he had previously been married to a woman named Martha H. Macon. I have seen her name also listed as Martha Hardy Hawkins and Martha Hardy Hawkins Macon. I had believed her to be a cousin to my Macons. This would at least help explain I guess why Thomas H. would have possibly been living there. But I am rather confused as to exactly who this woman was.
I would appreciate any help on this one!
