Looking for information on the murder of Jaime Mira, on May 9, 1891 in Key West (Monroe County). He was allegedly murdered by Jose Rodrigues and Emilio Garcia (they were later acquitted after four trials, the last one by the supreme court in Fort Myers, Fl., even though the evidence was overwelming that they had committed the crime). He was killed while trying to help the widow of Francisco Marrero, a wealthy Cuban cigar manufacturer (who was poisioned to death four months previously while on a tobacco buying trip to Havana, Cuba). He was helping gather evidence for Mrs. Marrero on an upcoming lawsuit and may have stumbled on to something that eventually got him killed while visiting and playing dominoes in Emilio Garcia's barroom.
Also looking for information on what happened to his family after he was killed. He left a wife, Rosa Mira, and five children. I only know four of the children's names from the 1880 census. They are Blanca Mira, Manuel Mira, Evanglia Mira and Jose Mira.
Jose Mira was my Great-Grandfather. Would appreciate any information related to the above.
Thank you.
