I went to Orange Memorial School of Nursing in 1966-1969. It was a three year diploma of nursing school. Senior students carried a floor with an RN covering every 2 floors . We worked on the floors 8 hours and attended classes, we worked all three shifts and lived in a dorm on the hospital campus. When you graduated after already working full shifts it wasn't that unusual because the real working environment was like the one we had experienced for our junior and senior years at the school. I have never regretted my career choice and feel I was totally prepared to face my work after graduation I have had a full career of 46 years in all phases of critical care with adults and children.
