Macedonia Baptist Church

My 2-great grandfather John Shepard Haven and most of his family are buried at Macedonia Baptist Church. I was wondering if anyone knows if early church minutes, membership lists, and such exist and where or how to access them?

J.S.'s son (John) Henry Haven was apparently involved in reorganizing the Norton's Creek Methodist Church into Lee Methodist Church so I am aware that the whole family probably wasn't in the Macedonia Baptist Church membership but I pretty well assume that both J.S. and his wife Martha Ann Welch were... especially given the number of Welches also were interred at the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery.

I am searching for an obituary for Sophia Hensley Sabayrac who is buried in the Walker cemetery in Madison co, Florida.

Sophia died in March 7, 1983. Could someone tell me what local newspapers could have carried the obit? I am uncertain where she lived. I am unfamiliar with this area of Florida or where to begin my search.

I believe this Sophia is a cousin to my great grandfather.

They lived in Citrus County, Florida. My grandmother was very secretive about her past, some big secret she was ashamed of. We were always told that her maiden name was Coleman but I discovered on her marriage license she was listed as Miss Dorinda Georgiana Westberry. I can't find any connections for her with either name. Does anyone have any information or clues that might help unravel this family mystery?

My grandfather was William Richard Levins born Nov. 17, 1868 in Levy County, Florida. His father's name was Richard Hamilton Levins and his mother was Mary Johnson (we think the last name was Johnson) Levins. We think they lived around Levy, Citrus & Marion counties. That's all we know of them & I'm searching for any information I can find on ggrandfather Richard Hamilton Levins and ggrandmother Mary Johnson(?). We have heard that Richard & Mary were divorced and she later married a Pendarvis then a Dyess/Dice. I have hit a dead end and any clues or information would be greatly appreciated.

I find the family in the 1840, 1850, 1860 & 1870 Madison Co, FL census records. I am looking for John's eldest son, Edward H who married Emma M. (unk) abt 1860-1865. Two of his children, Louisa C. and Cora A were born in Florida (probably in Madison) and the last 3, John S., Mattie J. and Edward Rushin were born in GA. The family is found in the 1880 Census in Moultrie, Colquitt Co, GA, which is where he died in 1899. Emma was still alive for the 1930 GA census in GA

My mother is quite elderly now and I am trying to assist her in finding where her mother is buried and what happened toher mother. I am trying to track down my grandmother. I have found the information that she was divorced in Volusia County Florida on May 29, 1950. Her name was restored to Frances Adelia Taylor. Her address at the time of the divorce from Richard W. Schoonover was 37 North Oleander Ave, Daytona Beach. She disappeared after this point, and I have been unable to track her anywhere. Her parents did at one time own a vacation home. Their names were George T. Taylor and Desdemonia H. (Williams) Taylor. Any assistance would be so appreciated. If you incur any expenses, please let me know. My search has hit a dead end. I have all of the divorce records, but nothing else. Frances DOB is 05/24/1912. She was born in Ipswich, Mass to George Thomas Taylor and Desdemonia H. Williams. (Carr)
Please let me know if you are able to assist me in any way. Thank you.
Elle

Richard is buried in White Wright Cemetery in White Wright, Fannin Co, TX along with part of his family. It shows him to be listed as Co. B 56th AL Partisan Rangers. He filed for his pension in Fannin Co. TX. I am trying to find when he enlisted as a scout, also where he was living. He and someof his children were listed in the 1880 Talladega Co. AL census. His first son listed in a 1910 Talladega CO. AL census shows ? Dump ? TAYLOR is listed in Talladega Co. AL Silver Run with 3 children and wife, Beckey TAYLOR, son ROBERT TAYLOR as 13, daughter Synthia (CYNTHIA )TAYLOR as 10 , and son JOHN TAYLOR as 8 years old. We do not know this first child or his family, we know all the other children and all their families. My grandfather had some of his children here too! No one claims to be kin to our Taylor family. My grandfather was WILLIAM THOMAS TAYLOR SR. HE was born 1870 in Jefferson Co AL in 1870. He married GEORGIA ADA WILLIAMS. They had several children in AL and then moved to Fannin Co TX. William Thomas Taylor married 3 more times in TX and had a total of 12 children. If you have any information on this family I would love to hear from you. I am told Richard Thomas TAYLOR's father was JOSHUA TAYLOR of GA. I am told we are not kin to the president. Also we came from ANDREW TAYLOR, kin to the ELIZABETH RIVER's TAYLOR's of NORFOLK VA. Not yet confirmed.
Hello,
We are looking for any information regarding Evans M. Lamb in Madison County, Florida. He was on the 1850 census, and also the 1860 census as E.M.Lamb.
His first wife was Sarah Giddens and second wife was Nancy Ann Page daughter of Josiah Page, also of Madison County.
My husband is a direct descendent of Evans and Nancy, through James Abel.
We are trying to "piece" the family's migration from South Carolina via Decatur Georgia to Madison County. Josiah Page was also born in SC the same year as Evans. We are hoping this will lead us to Evan's family. All our family history regarding him and Sarah seems to end in 1810 (birth of Evans) and 1814 (birth of Sarah).
Sorry to be so wordy, but trying to supply as much information as possible. I am currently in a wheelchair due to spinal surgery, and am unable to travel to Elmer's Library in Madison.
Any information that can be shared would be most appreciated. Also, any other direct ancestor's in the area, we would love to connect with !
My email is LilReb2U@aol.com, and I will check this board frequently.
Thanking you in advance for any help/information you may have.

Alice Craig Sawyer Davis/Granville Woodrow Sawyer

I am searching for Alice Craig Sawyer Davis, daughter of Granville Woodrow Sawyer, of Roper, NC. She posted to the Sawyer mailing list at RootsWeb.com in 2003, searching for her cousins - after I'd long ago given up trying to find this same missing uncle for my mom. This uncle lived for awhile in Washington, DC - then, Ms. Davis says, he moved to Texas and she lived in LA & now lives in FL (????). Her
e-mail addy on her post on the Sawyer mailing list no longer works. If anyone knows her, please have her contact me at jtjjohnson@juno.com. Thank you.

Jane Ann Williams Davis: 1828-1863, Died Madison County

My wife's G-GM, Jane Ann Williams, was born in GA 18 May 1828; married George W. Davis 24 Dec 1846 in Jefferson County, FL. They had 7 children: Charlotte, William, Sally, Larer, Fanny, George, and Eliza. Jane Ann died in Madison County, FL 22 Sep 1863. Is there anyone on-site in Madison County who might have easy access to data to provide information on her origins: parents, siblings, birthplace, etc. Her son, George Oliver Davis, b. 1860 in Madison, FL, married Sarah Skinner in 1882 (she died young), then Claudia Reynolds Cromartie in 1890; they lived their entire lives in Madison County, died there in 1910/1911. George Davis had 9 children, all born in Madison Co.: Willie, George, Nellie, Alexander, Claude, Mary Annieline, Sarah, Luther, and Katherine. Thanks for your help.

His original surname was Titsworth. His wife was called Mary and she was of Serb. descent. They had a son called Noel who originally was in the Marine Corp during the Korean War. Noel B's mother may have been Cherokee Indian. Does anyone out there ever met this man?
