Surnames: SEXTON, BRITT, PUCKETT, MCMURRY
I am looking for information on the SEXTON family of
Cherokee Co., GA and Murray Co., GA. This particular family
has marriage ties to the PUCKETT and BRITT families that
lived in Cherokee County in the period of 1860-1870 and were
originally from Gwinnett Co., GA. James SEXTON married
Lucy MCMURRY PUCKETT in 1859 in Gwinnett Co., GA.

Each brought children by their first marriages to this
marriage. It is believed they had one son, Henry SEXTON
who would probably have been born in the period 1860 to
1863 or so. Henry SEXTON apparently moved to Chatsworth,
Murray Co., GA as an adult.

James SEXTON is believed to have served the CSA and died in
the Civil War. His widow, Lucy McMURRY PUCKETT SEXTON lives
the remainder of her life in Cherokee Co., GA and dies in
1913. She is buried in the PUCKETT family cemetery (Lost
Town Cemetery) near Waleska, GA.

Charles M. SEXTON (James SEXTON's son by his first marriage)
is found on the 1870 Cherokee Co., GA census living in the
household of Madison BRITT (a kinsman)and a marriage record
of Cherokee Co., GA shows a Charles SEXTON married to Sarah
J. GRAMLING in 1871.

Any information on this Henry SEXTON, Charles SEXTON or their father James SEXTON, or their descendants would be appreciated.
