1790 Columbia Co., Georgia - shows Joseph BATSON with a Dower by his wife Lucy BATSON an indenture deed signed 4 November 1791, for 55 pounds to James Read of Richmond Co., GA for 100 acres of land, it being part of 550 acres which was granted to Thomas Ford, and bounded by Greenbrier Creek....Samuel Scott.....John Marshall and The Scott's Spring Branch. Witnesses: James Reid, George Loflin.
It is believed that Joseph BATSON was born in VA about 1748-1750 (according to a census record of one of his sons), and died about 1833 in Greenville Co., SC
