Jordon L. Zuber, born June 18, 1865, Rome, Georgia, I'm trying to find out who his parents were, their names etc. he's listed as mullato in some of the census.
he died in Chattanooga, TN on July 26, 1941.

I doubt if he was a slave but his parents would have been most likely, unless they were free people.
I don't know if they kept or had the slave owners name.
There are lots of Zuber's in the Rome area that are his relatives that I found either though help or through cemeteries etc.
I at first thought his mother may have been Tamer Zuber
but I'm not totally sure about that either now. She was born in Rome area also.
Jordon has a grandmother named Malinda Zuber with lots of cousins from that family.
and he had a relative named Walter Zuber which I think might a brother.
I really don't know much about Jordan once he left Georgia at the age of 19 and went to Chattanooga, TN.
Since he was born at the end of slavery times, it's hard to find any information about his parents or who the parents slave owner might have been.

I know this is probably confusing.. I tried to explain the best i know how from what I know which isn't much.

any help will be appreciated.

Shap

I am also researching the Lathem family from Floyd and Polk Counties, Georgia.

Today I found the following information of Larkin Timothy Lathem:

Larkin Timothy Latham, 58 years old proprietor of a Cave Spring service station, was found murdered on the floor of his station early Wednesday morning by passersby. Sheriff Mark Horton began an immediate investigation, but if clues had been uncovered they had not been revealed Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services for Mr. Latham were held this afternoon from the First Baptist church at Cave Spring with Rev. Gus Tilly, of Cave Spring and Rev. Tuck, of Centre, Ala., officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery with Bisaner's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Miss Roma Latham; six brothers, W. H. Latham, of Cedartown, J. F., Loyd and Gus Latham, of Rome, George Latham, of Armuchee, and J. T. Latham of Cave Spring; two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Nolan and Mrs. Fletcher Sanders of Rome; and one grandson. (The Cedartown Standard, September 7, 1939)

Submitted by Wendell & Edna Stephens http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gapolk2/obits/pageL.html#l...

Samuel P. Fuller m. Marium Leathers in Floyd in 1846

I am attempting to locate the ancestors or any siblings of Samuel P. Fuller, b. 1821 in SC, m. to Marium Leathers, b. 1823 in SC. They were m. in Floyd County, GA in 1846 but he was living in Pickens Co., SC at the beginning of the Civil War and enlisted in Orr's Regiment (1st SC Rifles) and fought through the war. At the end of the war he moved his family to Swain County, NC where they lived until their deaths. I have accumulated a great deal of info on the Fuller and Leathers descendants. Much research has been done on the Leathers and it is well documented by others, however, if anyone could help me with the SC Fuller relativves of Samuel, I would appreciate it. I will be happy to share info with any other Fuller/Leathers researcher.
Hi, here's my attempt to present the Floyd County districts.
http://gen.intelec.us/floydist.htm

Regarding your other request about early roads, would 1870s be OK? Please see my Coosa page at http://gen.intelec.us/coosa/index.html . At left are some map links. Unfortunately the state of Georgia had servers down or some such thing on Saturday. (Deep budget cutting?) You and I may have to search for another source for the undisplayed map. Try
http://georgiainfo.galileo.usg.edu/gamaps.htm
also www.davidrumsey.com
Best of luck,
Travis, Huntsville, AL

Joseph S. Zuber
b. Oct 1 1865 Floyd Co GA. Died, Nov 15, 1941 Rome Georgia, buried, Zuber Cemetery Floyd Co. Ga.
Married to Addie L. Bell

I'm trying to find a connection to Joseph S Zuber to any of these people listed below:

Malinda Zuber b. 1825 Ga.
Died ?
and the grandmother of:

Jordon L. July 26, 1941 Chattanoota, Tennessee
Buried Highland Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN

Also these people listed below:
Tamer Zuber
b. 1846 Floyd Co. GA
Died May 19, 1928 Rome GA
Buried: Zuber Cemetery, Floyd Co. Possible the relatives moved away. Of course i didn't have time to search everywhere.

I know that Joseph S. Zuber was a Reverand it's posted on his tombstone.
and he was a Mason in Rome GA as well.

I hope this isn't confusing. I found all the census of these people that was available but no names listed for Joseph's mother or Tamer's family.
Tamer might have married into the Zuber family but being born that long ago probably no records exist.

Also these people are listed as mullato in some census and black in others.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Shap

Osborn Zuber born 1856, Caswell Zuber born 1854 all in Rome Georgia.
so far I've found most of these people but can't seem to find any other Zuber's in the area, I'm trying to find living relatives to see if they might know any information.
I know Malinda Zuber was born in 1825 or about that time, most of them would have been slaves, as they were mullato and black both.
and some ore buried in the Mt. Sinai cemetery north of Rome, GA. it's listed as Mt Sinai Zuber Cemetery. off of Hwy 53.
any help would be really appreciated. I think i might be at the end of my searching, with them being slaves it's possible that i may not find anything else.

Shap

Shap,
The Rome/Floyd County Library has a genealogy section that has lots of information. Also you can obtain copies of marriage licenses from the Floyd Co. Probate Court. Of course this would have to be done in person as they don't have anyone to look the information up for you. Thanks,Randy

Hey Cousin Trip! Glad to know the next generation in our family is interested in genealogy. Who would have thought we'd link up this way? I have found a lot of interesting information about the Wardlaws and the Lockhart side of the family if you're interested. None of my kids in your generation seems to care about this so I'd like a chance to share it with you.

From your cousin Laurie (Davis) Forbes
