My husbands line is James Albert Thornton, son of Reuben Thornton. I am helping my brother in law Bill Thoirnton of Atlanta. Ga.research his line. If you are interested in any data on this line , we would gladly share with you.

I seem to recall mention of the name "Reuben" from my childhood, but am unsure of any connection. I have no clue who my gf's parents were, and unfortuantely, all are gone now.

Reuben was the son of Thomas Thornton and there were a good many children and possibly you may tie be in this line, as they came from Forsyth County, north east of Atlanta, Ga

My gg-grandfather was Albert Thornton born in GA 1829. He moved to Mongomery County, AL where he married and raised a family. I know nothing of his GA roots. His middle initial may have been J.

I have information taken from Noah Moates Bible record that states Mary Ann Thorton died September 3 1872. One of his children was Rache Maryanna Moates, born 1820. I assume they are the same. Do you have her in your Thorton records? I have not been able to find any other information on her. Noah was in Montgomery County Alabama in the 1820's and moved to Walton County Florida in the 1840's. I found one Mary Ann Thorton with a child Martha A in 1870 Walton County census.
