I have been working on this branch although it is not my direct line. Jasper's parents were John B. Gravitt, b. 1831 and his cousin/wife Anna Teresa Gravitt. I studied the census records carefully and the best theory I could come up with was Robert Reuben Gravitt and Nancy (Tidwell) as being John B. Gravitt's parents. However, I was just told by a descendant that he was told by a family member that John B. Gravitt was brother to James Gravitt (wife Conny), which means that Randolph was his father. However, the problem with this is that there was another John Gravitt, b. 1801, who is also thought to be Randolph's son. My question is, were there ever two sons with the same first name in the same family, especially if one was born when the first had already left his family of origin? I am descended from this John born around 1801 so naturally I would like to clear this up. I have a lot of information on your branch given to me by cousins closer to you than me.
