The following is copied from the family Bible of William Thomas & Elmirah Catherine Park Clark. Notes in ( ) were added.
Richard Park was born July 14th 1777
Catherine M. Park was born December 16th 1782
Richard Park and Catherine Musgrove were married October 17th 1804 (Greene County, GA)
(Their children:)
Elizabeth Park was born August 11th 1805
Jane O. Park was born August 13th 1807 (Married William Burt Allred Feb. 23, 1825. Died April 13, 1885. Buried on the Allred Plantation, Pike County, AL)
Sarahbel Park was born August 1st 1810 (Married Winston Evans July 3, 1827)
Nancy M. Park was born June 20th 1813
Mary N. Park was born June 16th 1816 (Married Reuben B. Armor July 1, 1834)
Elmirah Catherine Park was born August 27, 1818 (Married William Thomas Clark November 28, 1839. Died in Chambers County, AL March 27, 1895. Buried at Bethel Cemetery.)
In the HISTORY OF GREENE COUNTY, GA by Rice & Williams...."Park's Mill on the Oconee River built by Richard Park about 1840 was burned by Sherman's forces November, 1864. 640 acres of this land was in Morgan County. Richard Park died in 1852. Judge James B. Park, Sr., rebuilt the mill with Col. J. N. Armor and Greene Moore in 1866. After many years the factory closed down and fell into decay."
In "GREEN COUNTY, GEORGIA CEMETERIES", I find the Park Cemetery, GMD 160-161, in a pasture at Ed Askew's overlooking the Oconee River. There are 4 graves listed:
James Park Lieutenant VA Militia Revolutionary War 1823
James Henry, son of Richard & Nancy Park, who departed this life October 22, 1845, Aged 1 year & 24 days
Richard, son of Richard & Nancy Park, born September_______,
Died October 21, 1851
Richard Park, Sr., stone broken, unreadable
Is the Richard Park, Sr. buried in this cemetery the Richard Park born 1777? The Bible record lists only 6 daughters for Richard & Catherine Park but evidently in this cemetery, Richard Sr. is the father of Richard whose wife is Nancy.
I would welcome a response fron anyone who is related to or has knowledge of these Parks.
