My information shows that Jesse Thompson was son of Benjamin Thompson who died 20 April 1796 in Hancock Co. GA. According to will filed for probate in 1796, his oldest son Jesse Thompson inherited the plantation whereon I now live. The land was on the north side of Powell Creek in Hancock Co. GA. There is also mention in Church records of Washington and Hancock Counties, GA that Benjamin Thompson gave land for a church known as Powell Creek Baptist Church in 1786. The only other information that I have on Jesse Thompson is that Jesse Thompson and wife, Nancy sold to Asariah King 500 acres at the mouth of Rocky Branch on Clark's Creek in Wilkes Co. GA on 30 July 1801.The DAR Patriot Index shows Jesse Thompson b 1754 VA d 1819 GA m. Nancy Clarke Pvt. VA. Information that I have on Benjamin Thompson places him in Bute Co. NC by 1758 and in GA by 1773 with 12 sons and 5 daughters. Benjamin Thompson Sr. also entered land on Rocky Creek 750 acres on North side of Little River. This was in Wilkes county, GA. Hancock Co. GA History said that Benjamin Thompson, Sr. and six of his sons served during Revolutionary War from GA and received Land Grants in Washington Co. GA that later became Hancock Co. They were Jesse, William, Benjamin Jr. (I am descended from him), John, Gideon and Joseph. I have some information on the other sons but not as much as I have on Benjamin Jr. who married Eustacia Pinkston before 1797 in Hancock Co. GA. Her father John Pinkston deeded property to her in 1797 and her husband Benjamin Thompson, Jr. received money on her behalf from the Estate of JOhn Pinkston when he died. John Thompson married Frances Clark and he named one of his sons, Jesse Thompson. This Jesse Thompson came to Alabama and lived in Macon County, Alabama. You can email me at
