William Louis Benton b. 1834 in Jackson Co, GA, Parents were Thomas Benton b. 1803 VA( s/o Reason R. Benton of VA, d.ca 1850 GA.) and Sarah Norman b. ca 1806 VA (d/o Joseph Norman of MS). William L. Benton was the sixth of fourteen children. At age 22 yo, in 1856, he moved to MS.
