James L. Martin (b abt 1790, SC, per 1850 Census of Barbour Co., AL) m Sarah C. "Sally" Smith (b about 1805, probably Jasper Co., GA) 31 March 1821 in Jasper. Sally was the dau of Alexander Smith (b abt 1771/1781-d 4 April 1831, Jasper Co., GA) and [--?--]. Alexander's other children included sons Wyatt and Elisha and several daughters, named in his will. By the the 1830s, James and Sarah (Smith) Martin had moved to Stewart Co., GA, and by the 1840s-1850s, to Dale and Barbour Cos., AL.
