MANSFIELD, Ohio: Emma Lizzie Lavaughn-Maddox, 92, of 600 Grant Street, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Crystal Care Center.
Mrs. Maddox was born Thursday, November 11, 1920 to late Willie and Elizabeth Bland LaVaughn in Jasper County, Georgia.
She was a member of the OASIS of Love Church and had lived in the Mansfield, Ohio community for over 28 years.
Mrs. Maddox was a grocery store owner who also enjoyed cooking for her family.
She is survived by a daughter Mary Maddox-McCoy Mansfield; a special niece whom she raised Cora Carter Hillsboro, GA; three sisters LeAnn Pitts of Atlanta, Mary Bell of Columbus, and Naomi (Ben) Carey of Hillsboro, GA; three brothers Rev. Charles (Inez) LaVaughn, Monticello, GA, Ben LaVaughn and Fred (Christine) LaVaughn both of Hillsboro, GA; a brother-in-law Eugene Maddox Hillsboro, GA; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and also including a special niece Dorothy Rooks-Campbell.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Maddox was preceded in death by her husband George Washington Maddox; four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Services by her minister Dr. Walter E. Jordan II.
The family will receive friends at The Chapel one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, OHIO.
The family will also receive friends at her home from 1-6 pm daily until the day of the services.
