Am searching for information about Charles Mulligan Ferguson of Lumpkin Co. He was a Second Sgt in the 52nd. Regt. Ga. Volunteer Infantry and served throughout the Civil War. He is my ggg-grandfather. His daughter was Sarah Estillina Ferguson. She married John Anderson, also of Lumpkin Co. Charles Ferguson was home on sick leave during the Spring of 1864 and was cut-off from rejoining his unit because of Sherman's March to the Sea. From his pension records, he joined a local home defense unit in Walker Co. and served out the war in this unit. I am also most interested to learn about any Walker Co. home defense units, especially Partisan Ranger units or guerilla units he may have served in. Thank you.
