Marshallville, Ga. - Jan. 30, - Funeral services for J. R. Virden, widely known Marshallville Man who died here late Monday, will be held at 3 pm Wednesday at the Marshallville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Persons Virden, three daughters and four sons: Rufus Troy Virden, Fred F. Virden, Herman Virden, Miles Little Virden, Martha E. Virden Ruark, Sarah Evelyn Virden Williams, Lutie Virden Dominy. **************************************

Funeral services for J. Rufus Virden, 70, were held at the cemetery yesterday afternoon for J. Rufus Virden, 70, retired farmer. Mr. Virden has been in declining health for the past several years and has recently returned from a Macon hospital where he received treatment.
Besides his widow, Elizabeth Persons Virden, he is survived by four sons, Herman Virden of San Francisco, M. L. Virden, Fred Virden and Troy Virden of Marshallville and three daughters, Mrs. Howell Ruark of Macon, Mrs. Lutie Dominy of Fitzgerald and Mrs. Elmo Williams of Marshallville and several grandchildren.
Mr. Virden had been a resident of Marshallville for a number of years and is a member of the Baptist Church.
[Note: There are two Virden Family Lots in the Marshallville Cemetery that have no marked graves. One has 3 adult unmarked slabs, the other has nothing. I have elected to use Lot No. 68 as the burial spot of Mr. James Rufus Virden Born about 1870 - Died January 29, 1940, he was 70 years old. His wife, Elizabeth Persons Virden is also buried in this cemetery, unmarked. [1873-1954]
