1802-1804: JAMES GRIMES: insolvent taxes. History of Montgomery Co GA pg 51. (could this be William and Tempy's father ??) Wonder why he didn't pay his taxes??
1807: JAMES GRIMES: living in Montgomery County. He won lot 127 - 20 in Land Lottery in Baldwin County Georgia. He had to be resident of Georgia since 1803. History of Montgomery Co GA pg 58.
Did he move there or sell the lot??
1816: SUSANNA GRIMES married WILLIAM DRIER. Book A page 27. The year 1816 was written in pencil with a question mark behind it. Personal research records.
The History of Montgomery County records "no date" for this marriage. (Is she William and Tempy's sister? O.Q's Aunt Jeanett Hamilton Peeples noted in her records (1950) that Tempy had a sister named Susanna and they were both on the Indian rolls. This has NOT been confirmed.)
1824: WILLIAM GRIMES married LYDIA SMITH on May 13th.
This information furnished by free look ups for Montgomery Co on GAGENWEB. Request for book and page # not answered. (Need to write for County records).
1826: TEMPERANCE GRIMES and SOLOMON HAMILTON married, February 20th,1826, Montgomery Co., Ga.
Recorded Marriage Book Book A, page 41. Certified copy of record.
1826: DELILAH GRIMES , daughter of William and Lydia, born December 26th, 1826.
Grimes Family Bible (furnished by Eloise Grimes Ratliff.) Her parents and place of birth named on her Death Certificate. Other sources of birth date found in Brackin Family Bible, Census records, Court records and her Widow's Pension Application. With five different dates recorded, it was decided to use the date from Grimes Family Bible for her headstone. (all the above info from Wynona F. Hamilton)
Thanks for any help given
