Still looking for information re Richard HELTON (12 Sept 1813 - 16 May 1885) and wife Saleta Ann (Sleety Ann) GREESON? (18 Jan 1803 - 11 May 1904) of Murray/Gordon/Whitfield Counties. Both buried in Union Cemetery, Whitfield County, Georgia.

Family stories indicated that youngest son John Edward HELTON (14 Nove 1856 - 15 Dec 1949) who married Aida Rebecca ADAMS (29 Oct 1858 - 2 Dec 1916) was orphaned and raised by his grandparents. The name McHARGUE/McCARG? was supposedly connected. John Edward HELTON was buried in Brushy Creek Cemetery, Irwin County, Georgia -- but Aida/Ida Rebecca ADAMS HELTON was buried in Swamp Creek Cemetery, Whitfield County, Georgia with children Dixie, Leola, and Paul HELTON, plus daughter Clara A. HELTON WEBSTER and son Barney Green HELTON.

Relationships on census records don't indicate that John Edward HELTON was orphaned, but perhaps his father Richard HELTON might have been.

I've really hit a brick wall on this family and would greatly appreciate any assistance.
