Amos Ellard (name spelled about 5 ways in the document of which I have a copy) was shot to death in Washington Co., Va. in 1786 and his son, James Sr. was sent to Pendleton Dist., S.C. James sold his land in Anderson and Oconee Cos. S.C. in the 1820's and bought land in Rabun Co., Ga., moving there with his family. Sons, Amos II moved to Forsyth Co. and William to Murray. James Jr. continued to live in Rabun Co. until his death and is said to have been buried at Old Edem Cemetery. He and his first wife had these children: William David Ellard, 1828, m. Mary Frances Smith. Benjamin Calhoun m. Susannah Shirlry and Avarilla ?. Elizabeth Ellard m. Stephen Smith. Malinda Ellard m. James Franklin Godfrey. Martha Ellard m. David N. Shirley. Amos Ellard died in childhood. James JR. and his second wife, Charity Boatwright, had these children: James Watts Ellard, 1846, m. Hulda Shirley. Nancy Ellard m. William Fry and moved to the west, Oregon?. Howell Cobb Ellard m. Fannie Jane Ivester. Mary Ellard, perhaps died in childhood. Hepzibah Ann Ellard m. Walter Dockins. Charity Ellard. Lucy Catherine Ellard m. Frazure Taylor. I'd be happy to hear from descendants of any of these and trade information. Descendants of Benjamin in Texas & Oklahoma, etc. spell their name ELLERD.
