Seeking help on the Farris family, connected in some way to the Richmond co. Ga.
Farris/Ferris lines:

I have evidence that my paternal grandmother's grandmother was Elizabeth
Parker who married a Farris. My Dad remembers his Mother telling him that
he was kin in some way to "Bo Farris" and others in Augusta, Richmond Co.,
Ga. There is a card from my grandmother's sister where she states that Mr.
Farris' name might be Howell. I found a marriage March 09, 1862 in Decatur
Co., Ga. between a Howell Farris and Elizabeth Parker, but have no evidence
that they are the same couple.

I have a copy of an 1889 City Directory of Augusta, Ga. and it lists the
Following
as Ferris/Farris

Farris:
Miss Aurena, wks Dartmouth Mills, bds 1203 Fenwick
Benjamin, wks L. F. Padgett, res 1316 1/2 Barrett
Beverly, painter, res 1203 Fenwick
Charles, wks Augusta Factory, bds 1203 Fenwick
Edward, wks Augusta Factory, bds 1203 Fenwick
Jack, wks L. F. Padgett
J., wks Augusta Factory
Laura, spinner Augusta Factory [possibly my great-grandmother]
Miss Rebecca, wks Augusta Factory, bds 1203 Fenwick

Ferris
Charles H. (Ferris & Son) res 837 Greene St.
John C. (Ferris & Son) res 820 Broad Sr.
William, lab, bds 1501 Rollersville Rd.
Freeis & Son (John C. & Charles H) merchant tailors, 820 Broad

My g-grandmother Laura Elizabeth Farris m. John Inglett stated in a personal
interview at Milledgeville hospital that she was born in Sparta, Ga. At the
present time that would be Hancock co.Ga., but I am not sure what it was in
1872. However she and her husband John Inglett were living in Pinetucky Ga.
and my grandmother was born there. I do not know the date of their move to
Augusta.

Both Laura Elizabeth Farris and her mother Elizabeth Parker Farris died in
Georgia State Hospital, Milledgeville, Ga. Whether it was because of TB,
menopausal symptoms, cheaper than an divorce, or true mental illness, I do
not know.

I am having no luck finding out about the Farris line. The interview of
John Inglett by the hospital when Laura Farris Inglett was admitted to
Milledgeville stated that Mr. Farris and his wife Elizabeth were divorced.
Also that he was a "drunkard". (Yes, I still claim them and want to know
more, altho they were not rich or famous). The only record for Elizabeth
Parker Farris that the hospital sent me was one sheet diagnosis that stated
that she was insane due to domestic problems. (Is this the medical proof
that husbands and children CAN in fact drive you crazy!)

What I have on the family of my grandmother Carrie Lee Inglett, d/o of Laura
Elizabeth Farris Inglett, m William Henry Smith is as follows. I have a lot on the
Ingletts, but very little on the Farris/Parker connection. If anyone can help
even the tiniest bit, I would really appreciate it. ANY information on the Farris
families who later were in the Richmond Co., Ga. area would be much appreciated.
