This is information I got at the Statesboro Regional Library in Bulloch County Georgia. It was in the Anderson Family Folder prepared by Joe Anderson

1750-1848 New Bern. NC---Thomas Ga.
Joseph Anderson was born about 1750 in New Bern District, NC and died in June 1848, in Thomas County Ga.
Prior to 1780, Josephy moved to South Carolina. He enlisted in the South Carolina. He enlisted in the SC militia in 1780 at Long Bluff on the Great Pee Dee River,Darlington, SC, under Captain William Standare in Colonel Bolton's regiment under General Francis Marion. Joseph Anderson served 240 days as a private and was paid seventeen pounds, two shillings and ten pence farthing on 31 Dec. 1785. (Account No 670-Y-account itself, order on treasury and receipt.) He was also paid for 29 days militia duty (Account 3876-X- account itself and indent with which it was paid.) During his service Joseph Anderson fought in the Battle of River,Camden,Down's Fort and Eutaw Springs within the limits of South Carolina.

Children of Joseph and Sarah Anderson were:
1. Daug. b 1792
2. John b 1794 m. Elizabeth Lewis
3. Sarah b unknown m. John Kelly
4. Penelope b 1798 m. Silas McClelland
5. Daug. b 1799
6. Moses b. 1800 m. Rachel McClelland
7. Nancy b 1802 m. William Baldy
8. Fanny 1806 m. Richard Roddenberry
9. Vicey(lavincy) b 1808 m. Robert Roddenberry

In 1810, Joseph Anderson moved from Barnwell District,SC to Bulloch County Ga. and from there to Thomas County Ga. in 1827. His declaration to obtain a Revolutionary Pension was made before the Inferior Court of Thomas County
6 May 1833 and is recorded there. However, no record of this appears in Washington and no pension was granted.
Joseph Anderson died at his home in the southern part of Thomas County ,Ga. in June 1848. Joseph and Sarah are believed to be buried in unmarked graves a few yards over the current state line in Jefferson Co. Fl. near US HWY 19.
The will of Joseph Anderson was probated in Thomas Co. 3 July 1848. He left considerproperty, including lands in Thomas and bulloch Counties to his wife,Sarah, for her lifetime, then to go to his son Moses, with a provision of $200.00 cash to his daughter,Nancy. It is believed she never married. Joseph Anderson left no provisions in his will for his son,John Anderson or his other daughters. The Roddenberry brothers, husbands of Fanny and Vincy Anderson, sued to have the will overturned but lost the suit.
John and Elizabeth Anderson lived and died in Bulloch County,Ga. Penelope and Silas married in Bulloch County,Ga. and moved to Irwin County,Ga. before 1830 and then to Hamilton County Fl. about 1833. Moses and Rachel, sister of Silas, moved to Thomas County,Ga. and then to Hernando County,Fl about 1865 and died there in 1870. Richard and Fanny Roddenberry moved to Thomas County. Ga, with Joseph Anderson in 1833. Fanny died in 1837 and Richard remarried. Robert Roddenberry, younger brother of Richard, married Vicey Anderson, youngest of Joseph and Sarah's children.

Submitted by Margie Hendrix Barden of Thomasville, Georgia.

I was just sent an email saying that John Anderson who married Elizabeth Lewis was Buried in Anderson Cemetery in Bulloch County. I have the cemetery book that has 2 Anderson Cemetery and both has my Anderson ancestors. I have found some of John and Elizabeth's children in these cemetery's.
I have a John Anderson
It has
b Jan. 22 1822
d Jan. 13 1864.
Death date could be correct but bd incorrect.

I have just started on the Anderson's and they are quite confusing.
Would appreciate additional info if you have any.
I hope to find more info when I go back to Ga. in the fall.
I would love to see that Bible. I knew Melton Anderson and I know he has one son still living.

Jeanette
