I am also descended from Peter Ouzts. Recently I learned that my grandmother, a Leopard, is related to the Ouztses not only by marriage but also by blood. This past Sunday there was a dedication of the old Ouzts home in Ninety Six, SC. This house was built by George Ouzts about two hundred years ago. Only two of George's children are living, one of which is my grandfather. Both of his kids were in tears. The home had to be moved off of its original lot because one of the Ouztses who owned the lot wanted to put a trailer there. The person who moved it fixed it up really nice in memory of her grandmother, Minte Ouzts, who lived there with George Ouzts. My grandparents lived in this house for a few years after they got married, and Mrs. Minte taught my grandmother how to cook extremely well. My dad still remembers going over to this old house every Sunday with all of his cousins, aunts, uncles, parents, and grandparents, to eat Sunday lunch. The people who lived in this house were farmers, and the whole family attended Friendship, a church that is known by only this name, so I don't know the full name. Many of George's children grew up and moved into the Greenwood Mill Village and worked in the mill for the rest of their lives. I'm sure I could tell you much more about the Ouztses if you wanted to know. If you want a copy of the video from the dedication of "the Old Place," (George's house) just e-mail me back at
