Looking for information on the incident that killed the sheriff from Tifton that answered the call to quell a disturbance between father and son.
Col. BOSTICK was a Civil War veteran and he had what we call Post Traumatic Distress Syndrome today. The incident was the colonel going after his son with a gun.
When the sheriff arrived we understand that BOSTICK shot the sheriff and three of his posse. The posse surrounded the house for 11 days before their killed BOSTICK. This event took place in or before 1870.
With the county lines changing we have no idea of where Tifton GA was at this time.<g>
We do know that the son was William BOSTICK. As for the "Colonel" BOSTICK we cannot find anyone that would have this rank unless he was part of the militia or home guard during the Civil War.
We sure could use some help to identify this Colonel BOSTICK in question.
