Rebecca Hinton Simmons Dance was my great-grandmother. I cannot find out any information on her except her marriage record and in an article, GEORGE W. DANCE by John A. Cawthon. In the article it states that "George was the fourth son and fifth child of Matthew and Mary Ann Adams Dance born on March 7, 1837, in Oglethorpe Co, GA. George was five years old when, on April 11, 1842 , his father married Rebecca Simmons, in Troup Co., GA. James Hunter, Justice of the Peace, performed the ceremony and the marriage license is recorded at La Grange. Hunter was a circuit rider---Hence, his name offers no clue to the Troup Co locality in which the marriage took place. On the 28th of November, 1847, my father and step-mother, with 8 boys, left Troup Co., GA for a home somewhere west of the Mississippi." If and when you find more information, I would like to receive it. Thanks!
