Mr. Jatinder Sharma
Born in Patiala, India on Aug. 5, 1962
Departed on Aug. 2, 2010 and resided in Waycross, GA.

Service: Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010

Mr. Jatinder Sharma, 47, died Monday evening (August 2, 2010) at Bacon County
Hospital in Alma after an extended illness.

He was a native of Patiala, India, but he was currently a resident of London,
UK where he was employed as a civil servant postal manager. His illness brought
him to Waycross to be treated by his childhood friend, Dr. Barjinder Singh.

He is the son of the late Rajkumar Sharma.

Survivors include his wife, Sharda Sangar Sharma of London, UK; his mother,
Sushila Devi Sharma of London, UK; two daughters, Miss Natasha Sharma and Miss
Neha Sharma both of London, UK; his son, Master Rohan Sharma Mudgil of London,
UK; one brother, Mr. Ashwani Kumar Sharma; and one sister, Ms. Aruna Sharma.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday (August 5, 2010) at the Music
Funeral Home Chapel. Memorialization will be by cremation.

Matthew Taylor Roberson
(Died August 5, 2010)

Matthew Taylor Roberson, 19, of West Palm Beach, Florida, died early Thursday
morning at Satilla Regional Medical Center, from injuries sustained in an
automobile accident. He was a native of Ware County, and attended Ware County
High School before moving to Boca Raton, FL He was a student at Delray
Vocational School in Boca Raton, FL. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Don Roberson and Gene Lynn and
his grandmother Gladys McAllister.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather Alicia and Jeffrey Alderman of
Waycross, his father Donnie Roberson of Boca Raton, FL, paternal grandmother
Anita Lynn of Waycross, maternal grandparents Guy and Katherine McAllister of
Valdosta, three brothers, Zachary Roberson, Austin Alderman, and Winston
Alderman, all of Waycross, several aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11 am at Grace Episcopal
Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Miles-Odum Funeral Home on Friday evening
from 6pm to 8pm.

Irene Newborn, 98, died Tuesday morning (August 3, 2010) at the Satilla Care
Center following a brief illness.

She was a native of Sanderson, FL but had made her home in Ware County for most
of her life. She was the daughter of the late Jim Thompson and Laura Slater
Thompson, and wife of the late Mose Newborn.

She had retired from Gold Kist Pecan after many years of service. She was a
member of New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where she had served as an usher
for many years.

She is survived by a host of family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday (August 9, 2010) at New Mount
Pleasant Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hazzard Hill Cemetery. The family
will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Sunday evening at Music Funeral Home.

Mrs. Velma Adell Massey, 69, died suddenly Wednesday (August 4, 2010) at St.
Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, (Duval Co) FL.

She was a native of Ware County and had lived most of her life in Ware County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Massey; and her parents, L. B.
Ricketson and Teresa Dukes Ricketson.

She was retired from King Edward Cigar. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist
Church, the Senior Sunday School Class and loved attending Saints of Joy.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Riggins (husband Timmy) of Blackshear; a
son, Dr. Jim Smart of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren; three great
grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Taylor of Waycross; four brothers, Tommy
Ricketson of Atlanta, Jerry Ricketson of Tulsa, OK, Darrell Ricketson of Dumas,
TX, and Alvin Ricketson of Dallas, TX.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday (August, 9, 2010) at Music
Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home
Sunday afternoon from 4 until 6.

Jimmy R. Hudson, 65, died Thursday afternoon (August 5, 2010) at Satilla
Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was a native of Nicholls, GA, had lived most of his life in Brunswick, but
had made his home in Ware County since 1972. He was a 1963 graduate of Glynn
Academy in Brunswick. He was the son of the late James W. Meade and Bonnie
Hudson Mosley. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ann Witt and
a brother Curtis Jerry Hudson.

He was the owner and operator of Hudson Management Corporation from May 3, 1976
until retiring in 2008. He had been a member of the Georgia Industrial Loan
Association for thirty years and had also served on the Board of Directors and
had been active with the Waycross Rotary Club. He attended Central Baptist
Church of Waycross. He is described by family members as a loving father and
grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Ann M. Hudson of Blackshear; three sons, Michael
Shane Hudson (wife Sarah) of Waycross, Patrick Shawn Hudson of Waycross, and
Randy Hudson of Tallahassee, FL; a daughter, Jackie Morrison (husband Richard)
of Tallahassee, FL; a step-daughter, Shelia Levington (husband Tony) of
Anderson, SC; two step-sons, Gary Careaga of Valdosta and Jeff Crews (wife Amy)
of Ellaville, GA; nine grandchildren, Haley Hudson, Allyson Hudson, Katy
Morrison, Jessica Morrison, Braxton Crews, Grayson Crews, Nicholas Hattaway,
Joey Careaga, and Andy Careaga; six sisters, Joyce Carter of Brunswick, Melba
Kelly of Brunswick , Barbara Ferretti (husband Charles) of Westchester, PA,
Jessie Dixon (husband Wallace) of Waycross, Saundra Clark (husband Robert) of
Kingsland, Wanda Clark (husband Lawrence) of Kingsland, the mother of his

Mr. Roy C. Lee, 77, died Thursday night (August 5, 2010) at Baptist Village
Retirement Communities following an extended illness.

He was a native of Bickley and had lived most of his life in Ware County. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Joel Lee and Bessie Hester Lee; a
sister, Minnie Lou Chesser; and two brothers, C.P. Lee and Virgil Lee.

He was retired from CSX Railroad and served in the U.S. Army during World War
II. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Virginia L. Lee of Waycross; two daughters, Terry
Gilmour of Jesup, Kathy Sikes (husband Charles, Jr.) of Hinesville; three
grandchildren, Jamie Gilmour, Greg Sikes, Trey Sikes; and several nieces and
nephews.

A funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday (August 8, 2010) at Music
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be

Mr. Truitt Wayne Tillman, Sr., 52, died Monday (August 9, 2010) at Memorial
Health in Savannah (Chatham Co) after a short illness.

He was a native of Waycross where he lived most of his life and was a former
employee of Scott Housing.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Steverson Tillman, Sr.; and one
brother, Lonnie Tillman, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Tillman of Waycross; one daughter, Jennifer
Wooddell (husband Scott) of Waycross; three sons, Billy Roberson (wife Dawn),
Alvin Roberson III (wife Tracy), and Wayne Tillman, Jr. all of Waycross; 9

Mr. Edward Daniel Baisden, 63, died Wednesday (August 11, 2010) at his residence following an extended illness.

He was a native of Nicholls and had lived most of his life in Coffee and Ware
County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearlie Baisden and Wilma
Carver Baisden; and a sister, Shirley Mae Meeks.

He retired from CSX Railroad after 44 years of service. He was a member of the
Okefenokee Country Club, the Men's Golf Association and attended New Life
Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Stanfield Baisden of Blackshear; a daughter,
Jennifer Baisden of Indian Shores, FL; two sons, Jerome Baisden of Atlanta,
Jaurez Baisden of Nicholls; a stepdaughter, Teresa Tuten (husband Ray) of

Mr. Royce Dewitt Morgan, 71, died Friday morning (August 13, 2010) at his
residence in Brantley County after an extended illness.

He was a native of Brantley County where he lived most of his life. He retired
from SCL Railroad as a signal maintainer. He was also affiliated with Woodard
Chapel Congregational Methodist Church.

Mr. Morgan is the son of the late Colonel Ebenezer “Ebb” Morgan and Inez Gunter
Morgan. He is preceded in death by one son, Thomas Gregory “Greg” Morgan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Christine Thomas Morgan; one daughter, Pam
Douglas (husband David) of Boston, GA; three grandchildren, Jonathan Douglas
(Mary) of Royceton, GA, Zachary Douglas and Kaitlyn Douglas both of Boston, GA;

She was a native of Atlanta, and she lived most of her life in Gwinnett County,
GA. She was a member of Norcross First United Methodist Church. In 1993, she
graduated from Young Harris Junior College where she joined Sigma Beta Sigma
Sorority, and then attended and graduated from the University of Georgia in
1995. She was employed by Accounting Solutions which was based in Atlanta as an
accounting recruiter. Because of her illness, she moved to Florida to be near
her mother.

Survivors include her mother, Linda Loudermilk Capps of Clearwater, FL; her
father, Larry Capps (wife Sandra) of Waycross, GA; one sister, Tara Capps West
(husband Jeremy) of Enterprise, AL; one nephew, Chase Purvis; one niece, Shelby
West; her grandmother, Carole Capps of Waycross; and numerous aunts, uncles and
cousins.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday (August 22, 2010) at the Music
Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday at
the funeral home.

illness.

She was a native of Hahira, GA and a former long-time resident of the Waycross
and Blackshear area. She had made her home in Canal Pointe, FL for the past
thirty-one years. She was the daughter of the late Jack W. Simpson and Vella B.
Forte Simpson Rowe.

She retired in March 31, 2005 from U.S. Sugar as a secretary after twenty-three
years of service.

Survivors include her husband of thirty one years, Thomas Branch of Canal
Point, Fl; two sons, Brian Branch (wife Joanna) of Lauderdale, FL, and Trevis
Branch (wife Tawanna) United States Marine Corps. stationed in Japan; two
grandchildren, Alexis Branch and Tebryn Branch; a brother, Morris Simpson of
Baldwyn, MS; two sisters, Lois and Judy, both of Waycross; and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Friday (August 20, 2010) at

Mr. James L. "Jimmy" Page, 55, died suddenly Wednesday morning (August 18,
2010) at Satilla Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Telvista, CA, but he has lived most of his life in Waycross.
He was employed by CSX Railroad as a track foreman with 34 years of service. He
was also a member of University Blvd. Church of God.

He is the son of the late Horace Leonard Page and Patricia Smith. He is also
preceded in death by his stepmother, Annie Louise Page Cox.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Robin Poole of Waycross; one daughter,
Donna Sue Lloyd (husband Matt) of Waycross; three grandchildren, Ashlee Lloyd,
Madison Lloyd and Brooke Lloyd; one step-daughter, Marsha Swain of Waycross;
five step-sons, Michael Poole (Tonya) of Waycross, Tommy Poole (Brandy) of

Linda Bruce Luke, 64, died unexpectedly Thursday morning (August 19, 2010) at
St. Joseph's-Candler Health System in Savannah.

She was a native of Hattiesburg, MS and was a former resident of Waycross where
she will be well-remembered as portraying "Mrs. Santa Claus" in many downtown
Waycross Christmas celebrations. She was the daughter of the late Woodrow
Wilson Bruce and Mary Neely Bruce.

She had retired from the Chatham County Board of Education as Music and Special
Education teacher with Myers Middle School. She had been awarded her BA and
Masters Degrees from Valdosta State University. She was a former member of
First Baptist Church of Waycross and was a member of Asbury Memorial United
Methodist Church of Savannah.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Luke of Savannah; two daughters, Jenni
Aquitante of Vidalia, and Catherine Gibbs (husband Danon) of Gretna, FL; a son,
Job Driggers of Fernandina Beach, FL; four grandchildren Thomas and Adam
Manley; Mary Arden and Holden Gibbs; two brothers, Neely Bruce of Middletown,
CT and Woody Bruce of Athens, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other
relatives.

Mrs. Donnie M. Riggins, 88, died Monday (August 23, 2010) at Satilla Regional
Medical Center following a short illness.

She was a native of Brentwood, GA but had lived most of her life in
Jacksonville, FL and Waycross. She was preceded in death by her husband, James
Daniel Riggins; and her parents, William Henry Carter and Mollie Copeland
Carter.

She was former secretary for her husband's three businesses, Riggins's Roofing,
Ability Roofing, and Abbercrombie Roofing. She was former member of Faith
Temple Church for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Murrell of Waycross, Cheryl Ann Willis
(husband Gary) of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Gerald Riggins (wife Rhonda) of
Jacksonville, FL; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great
grandchildren.

Mr. David Arnold Clever, 74, died Saturday morning (August 28, 2010) at Satilla
Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was a native of Mansfield, OH, but he has lived most of his life in Brantley
County. He retired from People’s Bank in Blackshear as an internal bank
auditor, and he was formerly employed as a C.P.A. and insurance agent. He also
enjoyed farming. He was an active member of Astoria Baptist Church where he
served as the Adult Sunday School Leader and Sunday School Director. Mr. Clever
also served in the United States Air Force for 11 years.

He is the son of the late James J. Collins and Catherine Elizabeth Dill. He is
also preceded in death by one sister, Doris Chloe Schweir; and one brother,
John Stanley Clever.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Ammons Clever of Hoobken; four sons, Timothy
Lee Clever (Cheryl) of Spartanburg, SC, Stanley Trent Clever of Smyrna, Lannice
Bryon Clever (Connie) of Hoboken, and Mark Carlyle Clever of Hoboken; five
grandchildren; two sisters, Paula Spitzer of Galion, OH, and Judith Brunk of
Mansfield, OH; one brother, Charles H. Mabry of Lodi, OH; and several nieces
and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday (August 30, 2010) at Astoria
Baptist Church. Burial will follow in High Bluff Cemetery.

Mrs. Beth Ann Corbitt Dobbs, 35, died suddenly Friday evening (August 27, 2010)
in Charlton County from injuries received in an automobile accident.

She was born in Columbus, but she was currently residing in Ware County where
she attended and graduated from Ware County High School in 1994. She was
currently a student at Okefenokee Technical College studying to be a Licensed
Practical Nurse.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Louise Hall, and John
Ersley Corbitt; and one aunt, Dale Gray.

Survivors include her parents, John and LaVerne Gray Corbitt of Waycross; one
daughter, Kali Brooke Dobbs (her father, David Dobbs); her fiancé, Jeff
Campbell of Yulee, FL; Jeff's children, Alexis and Emily Cambel; one sister,
Tammy Corbitt Murray (husband George) of Waycross; her grandmother, Alice
Corbitt of Waycross; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday (August 31, 2010) at the Music
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will

Jewell Davis Propes, 86, died Thursday afternoon (August 26, 2010) at Baptist
Village Retirement Communities following a brief illness.

She was a native of Nichols and had lived most of her life in Coffee County
before making her home in Waycross. She was the wife of the late Hoke S.
Propes, and daughter of the late Albert Davis and Elizabeth "Mandy" Taylor
Davis. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy D. Storey.

She was a member of University Blvd. Church of God where she had been active in
many areas including teaching the Adult Sanctuary Sunday School Class for many
years. She was formerly employed as a medical technician with Houston County
Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, Rev. M. Thomas Propes (wife Laquita) of Simpsonville,
SC; a daughter, Jeannine Burrell (husband Auburn) of Jacksonville, FL; five
grandchildren, Rev. Matthew Thomas Propes (wife Jennifer) of St. Louis, MO,
Summer Joy Propes of Simpsonville, SC, Daniel Chaney, Donald Chaney (wife
Sherry), and Kathie Jewell Cosgrove all of Jacksonville, FL; three great
grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; a sister, Wanell Register of
Waycross; two brothers, Foster Davis (wife Rosie) of Pearson and Denny Davis
(wife Lynda) of Waycross, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday (August 28, 2010) at
University Blvd. Church of God. A private burial will be in the Hall Cemetery
near Nicholls, GA. The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM

Margaret Avo Ellis Arney
(January 20, 1928 - August 5, 2010)

Margaret Avo Ellis Arney, 82, of Waycross died Thursday morning (August 5,
2010) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after a short illness. She was
born in Montgomery, (Montgomery Co) AL to the late James Eric Ellis and
Madelina Chambless Ellis. Mrs. Arney lived in Waycross since 1952 and served as
the Hostess at Shoney's for 23 years. She was of the Methodist faith. Mrs.
Arney enjoyed sewing, fishing with her grandsons and sports.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles
Dewey Arney and her brother, Buddy Ellis.

Survivors include two children, Ross Arney and his wife Donna, Waycross, Carol
Wildes, Waycross; one granddaughter, Chris Arney, Waycross; four grandsons,
Joey Melton, Chuck Melton, Randy Melton, all of Waycross, Bill Arney and his
wife Risa, Alma; 7 great-grandchildren, Bennett and Jarrett Arney, Alma, Seth,
Tristian, Jordan and Ally Melton, Sharon Justice; one sister, Mildred Turner,
Mobile, AL; lifelong friends, June and Carswell Griffin, Waycross; several
nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 11 am at Greenlawn
Cemetery.

Elaine Judith Burger Spear, 66, of Mershon, GA, died Saturday morning (August
7, 2010) at her residence after a short illness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY
and lived in Texas and Florida for many years before moving to Mershon three
years ago. Mrs. Spear was an office Manager at Sunrise Animal Hospital and was
of the Jewish faith. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Burger.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Spear, Mershon; one daughter, Erica Deift
and her husband Mark, Plantation, FL, one son, Kevin Spear, Ft. Lauderdale, FL;
four grandchildren; her mother, Beatrice Levy Burger, Orlando, FL; step-father,

Jeanette Manning McQuaig, 77, of Waycross died Sunday morning (August 8, 2010)
at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Ware
County to the late Enoch and Zoie Peacock Manning and lived all of her life
here. Mrs. McQuaig was a member of Crawford Street Baptist Church and the
Timothy Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Estes
Manning and Charles Manning.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 58 years, Sam McQuaig, Waycross; four
sisters, Roxie Riggins, Blackshear, Maudelle Crosby and her husband Donald,
Blackshear, Betty Sue Fraley, Waycross, Waunell Sapp, Blackshear; an aunt,
Irene Yarbrough, Macon, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Samuel Andrew Pierce, Jr.
(June 24, 1943 - August 10, 2010)

Mr. Samuel A. Pierce, Jr., 67, of Waycross died Tuesday at Satilla Regional
Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Pierce County to the late
Samuel Andrew Pierce and Florrie Howard Pierce. Mr. Pierce had made Waycross
his home for most of his life. He worked as a bicycle mechanic and a boat motor
mechanic for King-Nunn-Firestone and Evinrude. He then went on to retire from
Allgood Pest Solutions. Mr. Pierce was a member of Parkway Baptist Church,
where he served as a Deacon. He was a simple, old-fashioned man who loved his
family, and his time fishing with his dear friend Marshall. He will mostly be
remembered as a faithful servant to his Lord and to his church. He was preceded
in death by his parents, S.A. Pierce and Florrie Pierce.

He is survived by his daughter, Penny Eason and her husband Joe of Baxley, a
son, Andy Pierce and his wife Cindy of Waycross, a granddaughter, Danielle
Griffin and her husband Matthew of Baxley, a grandson, Austin Pierce of
Waycross, a brother, Eddie Pierce of Jacksonville, Florida, a sister, Angela P.
Griffin of Jacksonville, his former wife, Ruby Pierce of Waycross and numerous
nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home
Chapel. Burial will follow in Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in

Gertrude Irene (Walker) Newson-Smith Walker
(October 17, 1916 - August 11, 2010)

Gertrude Walker, 93, a long time resident of Waycross, died Wednesday after a
short illness. She was the widow of Bertrand M. (Buck) Walker of Blackshear,
who died in 1969.

She is survived by her three children, Carole Newson-Smith of Hayward,
California, Wendy Walker, and Chris Walker of Waycross, her brother Fred Walker
of Waycross, nieces and nephews Les Walker of Waycross, Julie Walker Protiva of
Atlanta, Dan Walker of Abingdon, Maryland, David James and Jeremy James of
Bloomington, Indiana, Sue Newson-Smith Reiss of London, England, Jane Newson-
Smith Hall and Peter Frank Newson-Smith of Dorset, England, John Morrison of
Oxfordshire, England, Jenny Morrison Daniel and Peter Woodruff of Wiltshire,
England. She was predeceased by her infant son, Clinton Lester Walker and
sister, Polly Walker James.

Mrs. Walker, daughter of Irene Smith and Frederick Lester Walker, both
deceased, was born in Patterson (Pierce Co) in 1916, was a gifted pianist from
early childhood, earning her degree from Jacksonville College of Music, the
first female in her family to achieve this level of education. Afterward she
lived in Brooklyn, New York and worked for a time in the souvenir shop at the
top floor of the Empire State Building, where she met her first husband, Peter
Newson-Smith. They married at Grace Episcopal Church on the Sunday that England
declared war on Germany – Sept. 3, 1939. She then lived in London, England, and
as her father in law was Lord Mayor of London, she lived with the family in the
Mansion House while her husband was an officer in the Honorable Artillery
Corps. During that time she met many dignitaries, including then Princess
Elizabeth, and Sir Winston Churchill. She worked for some time in the U.S. Army
headquarters on General Eisenhower's staff where one of her duties was to
transcribe his private diaries. Shortly after her husband's death on July 7,
1944 she returned to Patterson with their infant daughter. Captain Newson-Smith
is buried in a British war cemetery near Foiana del Chiana, Italy.

In 1948 she married Buck Walker who was the Chevrolet dealer in Baxley. Soon
after, they moved to Waycross, where Buck became co-owner with his uncle of the
R.L. Walker Chevrolet Company. After moving to Waycross they were members of
First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday
School classes. She was a member of the Junior League and was a Den Mother for
the Boy Scouts. The WACT played a major role in her later life. She played
piano for many musicals as well as performing in their first production and
many thereafter. She was on their original board of directors and found great
joy in participating with and encouraging the theatrical community throughout
the years.

Although she was born with a gift for music, it was her ear for others that set
her apart. She had a genuine interest in people from all walks of life. And, it
was her zest for life, her sense of humor, and love for her family and friends
for which she would want to be remembered. She will be missed by all of us who
love her so dearly. The family will receive friends at Miles Odum Funeral Home
on Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at First
United Methodist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made

(March 16, 1955 - August 12, 2010)

Mrs. Janice Juanita McDaniel Burney, 55, of Waycross died Thursday at her
residence after a brief illness. She was born in Waycross to Dewey McDaniel and
Elizabeth Nettles McDaniel. Mrs. Burney had made Waycross her home for all of
her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Indian Mound Missionary Baptist
Church. Mrs. Burney loved fishing and going to the beach. She was a wonderful
mother who loved her family and her dogs Zoey and Hootch. She was preceded in
death by her father, Dewey McDaniel, a son, Wesley Higgs, and two brothers,
Wesley McDaniel and J.B. McDaniel.

Mrs. Burney is survived by her husband, Wayne Burney of Waycross, two
daughters, Kristen Higgs of Waycross, Shannon Higgs of Waycross, three
grandchildren, Brittany Higgs, Kimberly Reynolds, Haley Scott all of Waycross,
her mother, Elizabeth McDaniel of Waycross, a sister, Jean Bowman and her
husband Steve of Millwood, four brothers, Henry McDaniel and his wife Emaline
of Waycross, Marvin McDaniel of Millwood, Gary McDaniel of Waycross, David
McDaniel and his wife Debbie of Millwood, a special friend, Julie Kadas of

Georgia "Olene" Wright Conoly
(December 8, 1915 - August 15, 2010)

Mrs. Georgia "Olene" Wright Conoly, 94, died Sunday August 15, 2010 in Albany,
(Dougherty Co) Georgia. She was born December 8, 1915 in Sellers, (Montgomery
Co) Alabama to the late George W. Wright and Charlotte Gussie Smith Wright
Reynolds. She had made her home in Savannah, Georgia for fifty five years
before moving to Albany, Georgia in 2009. Mrs. Conoly was a faithful member of
First Presbyterian Church of Savannah, where she was a part of the Wednesday
morning study club. She also served on the Presbyterian Home Advisory Board in
Quitman, Georgia. Mrs. Conoly retired from F.W. Woolworth Company as District
Supervisor after 53 years of service.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy"
Conoly, a sister, Mae McClendon, and three 1/2 brothers, Tom Reynolds, Carden
Reynolds, and Leslie Reynolds.

Mrs. Conoly is survived by two brothers and three sisters, Bill Reynolds and
his wife Kay of Kyle, Texas, Ruth Squires of Hartford, Connecticut, Hazel
Crenshaw of Albany, Georgia, Luther Reynolds and his wife Margaret of
Montgomery, Alabama, Carolyn Helton of Montgomery, Alabama, and numerous
nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lois Winnie Brannon Oliver
(August 12, 1940 - August 19, 2010)

Mrs. Winnie Oliver, 70, of Waynesville died early Thursday morning at Hospice
of the Golden Isles in Brunswick (Glynn Co) after an extended illness. She was
born in Blackshear, (Pierce Co) Georgia to the late James Leonard Brannon and
Agnes Youmans Brannon. Mrs. Oliver had made her home in Brantley and Ware
Counties for most of her life. She worked for the Ware County and Brantley
County Tag Offices, and owned Oliver Logging Company. She was a member of Oak
Hill Baptist Church, and enjoyed working outside in her garden. She especially
loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with
her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Rob Hunter and a sister,
Mary Ann Brannon.

Mrs. Oliver is survived by two daughters, Nita Barwick and her husband Roger of
Waynesville, Rita Forrister and her husband Daniel of Nahunta, a son, Mike
Prescott and his wife Jan of Waycross, eleven grandchildren, numerous great
grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Thrift of Waycross, a brother, Jim Hunter and
his wife Edith of Blackshear, an aunt Aline Childress Harrison of Blackshear,
and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Leon Jackson Keel
(February 1, 1917 - August 21, 2010)

Leon Jackson Keel, 93 years old native of Ware County, GA died Saturday, August
21, 2010 after a short illness. Mr. Keel was the son of the late David Jackson
Keel and Rosa Aspinwall** Keel of Ware County, GA.

Mr. Keel joined the Navy during the 2nd World War serving on a Mine Sweeper in
the Pacific Ocean where he was the only survivor after the sweeper was
destroyed by the Japanese. He spent four days and nights in the ocean before
being rescued.

After returning to civilian life he met and married his wife from North
Carolina. They had one son, Walter Jackson Keel currently of Missouri, two
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Keel worked for many years in Chicago, Illinois doing high-rise steel work.
He retired to Mississippi before he returned to Waycross to make his home.

Leon is loved and will be missed by his brother, Carl Keel, Waycross; sister-in-
law, Mary Helen widow of brother, James, of Sun City Center, FL. His nephews,
David Cason, Waycross, Carl and Jimmy Keel of South Florida; nieces, Jeanette
Cason Mobley, Waycross, Vera Bowers, Fernandina Beach, FL, Elaine Keel, Florida
and his great nephew, Bruce Mobley who was comfort to him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, James W.
Keel, Tallahassee, FL; four sisters, Georgia Keel Lawhorne, Atlanta, Mattie
Cason Guy, Waycross, Mary Keel Almon, Dover, FL, Willametta Keel Dowling,
Waycross.

Leon will be missed by his friends and families.

Marian J. Gray Bell
(May 2, 1946 - August 26, 2010)

Marian J. Gray Bell, 64, of Waycross, Georgia died early Thursday morning at
her residence after a brief illness. She was born in Charleston, South Carolina
in May of 1946 to Henry Leon Gray, Jr., and Dollie Hickox Gray. Marian had made
her home in Waycross for most of her life. She had recently been living in
Cairo. Ms. Bell graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in
Musical Education. She taught school at Patterson Elementary as well as in the
Clinch County School System. She was a past member of Hebardville Baptist
Church, Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and most recently was a member of Victory
Chapel Baptist Church. Marian spent a lot of her time volunteering at local
nursing homes. She had a great love of music. Ms. Bell was preceded in death by
her sister, Rachel Gray.

She is survived by a son, Joey Bell of Waycross, her parents, Leon Gray, Jr.,
and Dollie H. Gray of Waycross, a brother, John Gray and his wife Ann of
Blackshear, two nephews, Lee Gray and his wife Jessica of Waycross, Will Gray
of North Granby, Connecticut, special friend, Steve Charrette of Cairo, Georgia
and numerous other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 12 p.m., Saturday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home

Mr. Earl J. Cheshire, 70, of Blackshear (Pierce Co) died Friday morning at his
residence. He was born in Ware County to the late Charlie Cheshire and Mattie
Lee Cheshire. He had made Waycross and Blackshear his home for most of his
life. Mr. Cheshire worked for Gilman Paper Company and was a member of the
Church of God faith. He was a Past President of the Union of International
Paper Workers. Mr. Cheshire was also a member of the Blackshear Masonic Lodge
Number 270. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers,
Eugene Cheshire, J.W. Cheshire, Charles Cheshire, and three sisters, Doris
Rigdon, Mildred Conner, and Shirley Potter.

Mr. Cheshire is survived by a daughter, Dana Lynn Folsom and her husband Mickey
of Cocoa, Florida, two granddaughters, Rebekah Folsom and Kendall Folsom both
of Cocoa, Florida, his former wife, Ruby Cheshire of Blackshear and numerous
nieces, nephews and other relatives.

of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary, American Legion Auxillary and the National
Association of Federal Retirees.

grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services for Mrs. Downam will be held Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Two
o'clock in the Hargraves Chapel Cemetery, Millwood, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010,
