Departed on Feb. 2, 2011 and resided in St. Petersburg, Pinellas Co, FL

Mr. John "Wayne" Gamage, age 45, died Wednesday night (February 2, 2011) at
Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL after an extended illness.

He is a native of Waycross, but he has resided in St. Petersburg, FL for
several years.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Jason Kevin Gamage (died 19 Oct 2006).

Survivors include his parents, Franklin Gamage and Vonice Kicklighter Gamage of
Waycross; one brother, Frankie Gamage (wife Lawana) of Waycross; one sister,
Michelle Chauncey (husband Travis) of Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorialization is by cremation.

James Patrick (Pat) Ursrey, Sr., 65, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon
(February 2, 2011).

He was a native and had lived most of his life in Ware County. He was the son
of the late Lyman Colquitt Ursrey and Nell Bohannon Ursrey Hand. He was a
member of Indian Mound Baptist Church of Millwood.

He had formerly owned and operated Ware Supply Co. for thirty years. He was a
former employee of Waycross Molded Products and had retired in July of 2010 as
material handler from Simmons Manufacturing Co. after five and a half years of
service. He was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife of twenty two years, Annette Murray Ursrey of
Waycross; two daughters, Penny Hodges (husband Josh) of St. Mary's, and Lisa
Roberts of Waycross; a son, James P. (Little Pat) Ursrey, II.,(wife Nannette)
of Waycross; seven grandchildren, James P. Ursrey, III, Tonya Ursrey, Kayla
Lane, Cole O'Berry, Storm Roberts all of Waycross, Shelby Varnadoe and Scott
Varnadoe of Kingsland; a great granddaughter, Kammie Lane; a brother, Paul
Ursrey (wife Nancy) of Hoboken; his step-father, Ed Hand of Hazlehurst; a step-
sister, Sherri Lytle (husband Ricky) of Hazlehurst; a step-brother, Jerry Hand
of Denton, TX and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday (February 5, 2011) at Music
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at Music Funeral Home. Co-
workers from Simmons Manufacturing Company are asked to gather at the funeral
home at 2:40 PM Saturday to serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Jacqueline Smith Champagne, 70, died Saturday (February 5, 2011) at
Satilla Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

She was a native and had lived most of her life in Ware County. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Richard Clyde "Dick" Champagne, Jr. (died
Oct. 22, 2010) and her parents, Robert Jackson Smith and Allie Herndon Smith.

Survivors include three daughters, Julia Marsh (husband Mark), Pam Sheys
(husband Kevin) and Holly Jacobs (husband Steven) all of Waycross; a son, Ricky
Champagne (wife Betty) of Waycross; nine grandchildren; five great
grandchildren; seven sisters, Lillian Renzi of Buffalo, NY, Mildred Shirey,
Pauline Corbitt, Farrell McCall all of Waycross, Katrina Thompson of Manor,
Gloira Kessell of Monroeville, NJ, Gail Chancey of Blackshear; a brother, Paul
Smith of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (February 9, 2011) at

Mrs. Evelyn W. Shaw died Tuesday afternoon (February 8, 2011) at her residence
in Blackshear after a brief illness.

She was a native of Omega, but she lived most of her life in Waycross. She
retired in 1981 from Okefenokee Regional Library as a librarian. She was also a
member of First Baptist Church.

She is the daughter of the late Dr. Irvin Willis and Mary E. Spinks Willis.

Survivors include her sister, Naomi Nessmith of Blackshear; one niece, one
nephew, two great nieces and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday (February 11, 2011) at the Music
Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Oakridge
Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the
service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cecile Marie Hall Ternest, 83, died Tuesday night (February 8, 2011) at
her residence in Jamestown after a brief illness.

She is a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was employed by
ASCS/Farm Service Agency in Blackshear as a program assistant for over 30
years. She was also a member of Jamestown Baptist Church.

She is the daughter of the late Silas Thomas Hall and Kizzie Johnson Hall. She
is also preceded in death by her husband, Kent Ternest; one daughter, Kathy
Cribbs; and one sister, Mary Thrift.

Survivors include three sons, Kenny S. Ternest of Blackshear, Larry W. Ternest
(wife Ann) of Millwood, and Tim N. Ternest (wife Gwen) of Savannah; five
grandchildren, Cory Cribbs (wife Stacey) of St. Mary's, Stevie Ternest (wife
Alicia) of Blackshear, Matt Ternest of Millwood, Chad Ternest (wife Becky) of
Waycross, and Kyle Ternest of Savannah; three great grandchildren; one sister,
Delane "Bill" Peacock (husband Wilbur) of Jamestown; and several nieces and
nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday (February 11, 2011) at Jamestown
Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The

Miss Allison L. McDaniel, 34, died Tuesday (February 8, 2011) at Satilla
Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

She was a native of Tifton but had lived in Waycross most of her life. She was
preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John R. Chancey and her paternal
grandparents, Hoyt W. and Ida Tatum McDaniel.

She was a financial assistant with BYRT. She was a member of Trinity United
Methodist Church and a graduate of the University of Georgia. She attended
Mercer Universitiy and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.

Allison was a lover of theatre and music. She was a member of The American
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and was a supporter of animal
rescue programs.

Survivors include her mother, Beverly Chancey McDaniel of Waycross; her father,
Walter McDaniel of Waycross; her maternal grandmother, Jean J. Chancey of Alma;
her aunts and uncles, Lisa and Jeffrey Lovell of Alma, Karen and Luther
Overtreet of Tifton; her great aunts and uncles, Margaret T. (Peg) Douglas, Mr.
and Mrs. W. R. Tatum and Mr. and Mrs. Derrell McDaniel all of Waycross; and
many cousins.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday (February 11, 2011) at Trinity
United Methodist Church. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral
Home Thursday night from 6 until 8.

James Lamar "Jim" Screws, Jr., 50, died Friday morning (February 10, 2011) at
his residence following an extended illness related to pancreatic cancer.

He was a native of Waycross, was raised in Patterson (Pierce Co) and had made
his home in Waycross for the past twenty years. He was the 1978 Valedictorian
of Patterson High School and had attended Valdosta State College.

He was a Certified Addictions Counselor with Satilla Community Services and
also contracted counseling services to the Department of Corrections and the
Parole Office in Waycross. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous where he had
been actively involved since November of 1982. He was a member of Patterson
Baptist Church. He loved the game of golf and was a member of The Lakes at
Laura S. Walker where he was also a part-time employee.

Jim was a blessing and inspiration to all who met him because of his faith,
humility and service to others.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Newsome Screws of Waycross; two step-sons,
Allen Newsome and Jacob Newsome both of Waycross; his parents, Jimmy and Sarah
Screws of Patterson; a sister, Kim Kuykendall (husband David) of Blairsville; a
nephew, Matthew Kuykendall (wife Julie) of Statesboro; two great nieces, Avery
Kuykendall and Anna Kuykendall; two aunts, Dot Barton of Hazlehurst and
Marjorie Allen (husband Paul) of Portal; two brothers-inlaw, Sim Worley (wife
Joy) of Clinton, MS, and Michael Worley (wife Ginger) of Waycross; a sister-in-
law, Carol Ann Love (husband Abe) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, several cousins and
other relatives.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Asit Jha and staff,
the Southeast Cancer Unit, Inc., and Hospice Satilla for all of their truly
compassionate care.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday (February 12, 2011) at
Patterson Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will
be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at Music Funeral Home.

Wynnelle Kimbro, 95, died Thursday afternoon (February 10, 2011) at Baptist
Village Retirement Communities following a brief illness.

She was a native of Woodstock, GA and had lived most of her life in the Atlanta
area. She had made her home in Baptist Village Retirement Communities for the
past six years.

She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Forrester and Rose Peak Forrester and
wife of the late John Emory Kimbro.

She was a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth E. Kimbro of Blackshear; a "second son", Jim
Huskey of Blackshear and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday evening at
Music Funeral Home.

Burial will be held in Floral Hills Memory Gardens of Tucker, GA.

Mr. Charles D. "Doc" Spivey, 86, died Saturday night (February 12, 2011) at
Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick after a brief illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He retired from CSX
Railroad as a clerk in the transportation department. He served in the United
States Army during World War II and was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Mr. Spivey is the (son) of the late Orb Spivey and Leona Chaplin Carter. He is
also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Henderson Spivey; and one son,
Daniel Martin "Danny" Spivey.

Survivors include one son, Charles David Spivey (wife Bobbie) of White Oak; two
grandchildren, Jada McDevitt (husband Andy) of Dallas, and Paul Spivey of White
Oak; two great grandchildren, Clay and Cait McDevitt of Dallas; one sister,
Jewell Spivey Smith of Live Oak, FL; one brother-in-law, Robert Paul Henderson

Mrs. Annette Popham Bowen, 79, died Monday night (February 14, 2011) at her
daughter's residence in Dixie Union (Ware Co) after a brief illness.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was formerly
employed as an accountant for Raz Bowen Service Station. She was a member of
Kettle Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church and a life member of
V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary. She will always be remembered for her love and
devotion to her family.

Mrs. Bowen is the daughter of the late Jacob Rudolph Popham, Sr. and Mary
Louise Kirton Popham. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip E.
Popham and Dorsey E. Popham; a sister, Darlene Popham; a granddaughter, Brianna
D. Bowen and two sister-in-laws, Bobbie Popham and Betty Hedgepath.

Survivors include her former husband, John Q. Bowen; three daughters, Janet
Taylor (husband George) of Dixie Union, Penny Bowers of Blackshear, and Susan
Bowen of Waycross; six grandchildren, Sabrina Tuten (Philip), Scott Griffin
(Kay), Charlie Griffin (Kristen), Chad Griffin (April), Brittany Taylor and
Jeremy Bowers; three step-grandchildren , Lori Cade (Alton), Donna Sears

Mrs. Joan Faye Warner Telles, 68, died Saturday (February 12, 2010) at her
residence following a brief illness.

She was a native of Baltimore, MD, lived in California and had been living in
Ware County for the past five years. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Mike Telles; her parents, Will Hardy Warner and Annie Melissa Taylor Todd; four
brothers, DonTodd, Randy Todd, Stanley Todd and Larry Massey; and two sisters,
Vonette Shirley and Letha Faye Todd.

Survivors include a daughter, Clara of St. Petersburg, FL; two sons, David
Anderson of Washington State, Michael Clarkson of St. Petersburg, FL; three
grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Mikell (husband Edward ) and Grace Joyner both
of Blackshear; two brothers, Ronald Warner (wife Mildred) and Van Todd both of

Mr. Horace William (Bill) Watkins, 97, passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon
(February 13, 2011) at Satilla Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Watkins was born in Atlanta on November 25, 1913, but he has resided in
Waycross since 1958. He retired from Goodrich Tire Company as a territory sales
manager. He was an avid golfer and loved growing roses.

He is the son of the late Horace Briars Watkins and Matilda Hull Watkins. He
was also preceded in death by his son, Watty Watkins.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Hardage Watkins of Waycross; one
daughter, Vicki Allen of Jacksonville, FL; one son, Bill Watkins of Valdosta;
his grandchildren, David Allen (Katie), Allyson Herritt (Lee), Stephanie
Harrell (Lance), and Paul Watkins (Misty); eleven great-grandchildren, Matthew,
Talor, Hunter, and Blake Herritt, Will and Jake Allen, Maddox, Trace, and Aldyn
Harrell, Kade and Bennett Watkins.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday (February 19, 2011) at
Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Joe Randall (Randy) Pittman, 50, died Monday (February 14, 2011) from
injuries received in a truck accident.

He was a native of Waycross and had lived all of his life in Ware County. He
was a truck driver for many years and was employed most recently with Thom's
Transport. He attended Sunnyside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Pittman of Waycross; a son, Joe Randall (Joey)
Pittman, Jr. (wife Kayla) serving in the U.S. Army in Ft. Carson, CO; two
grandchildren, Ashton and Caden Pittman both of Ft. Carson, CO; his mother and
stepfather, Ronnie and Bonnie Pittman of Blackshear; his father and stepmother,
Ray and June Pittman of Waycross; four sisters, Judy Miller (husband Jerry) of
Elizabethtown, KY, Donna Beverly (husband Shannon) of Boone's Mill, VA, Sheila
Butler of Waycross, Bunnie McCrea (husband William) of Waycross; four brothers,

Mr. William Grant Reese, 82, passed away Wednesday afternoon (February 16,
2011) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after a brief illness.

He was born on November 9, 1928 in Cleveland, OH, but he has lived most of his
in Tennessee before moving to Waycross 14 years ago. He retired in 1993 after
40 years as a truck driver. He also served in the United States Army during the
Korean Conflict where he received the Purple Heart.

Mr. Reese is the son of the late Addie Bateman Reese and Norbert O. Reese. He
is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. Reese; one daughter, Peggy Moon;
and one brother, Ollie Reese.

Survivors include his daughter, Paula Day (husband Bill) of Waycross; one
sister, Ellen Dodge of Republic, MO; four grandchildren, Kristie Heald (Tony)
of O'Karche, OK, Michael Thomason (Melissa) of Norman, OK, Rebecca Tucker
(Richard) of Birmingham, AL, and Kim Day of Moore, SC; seven great
grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; one niece, Kathy Yount (Jeff)
of Winston Salem, NC; and several cousins.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday (February 18, 2011) at The
Mitchell Chapel at Baptist Village. The family will receive friends the hour
prior to the service. A graveside service will be held Sunday at Mount Olivet
Cemetery in Nashville, TN.

Ira C. Joiner, 97, died Sunday morning (February 20, 2011) at his residence
following an extended illness.

He was a native of Berrien County but had made his home in Ware County for most
of his lie. He was the husband of the late Lucille Morgan Joiner and son of the
late William D. Joiner and Mary Griner Joiner.

He was the owner and operator of Joiner Transfer in Waycross for many years.

Survivors include his son, Kenny Joiner (wife Judy) of Waycross; a grandson,
Scott Joiner (wife Kim) of Waycross; a granddaughter, Alysha Lamkin of
Waycross; two great grandchildren, Kaleigh Joiner and Chelsea Fullard, nieces,
nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Verlene Miles Carter, 88, passed away Saturday night (February 19, 2011)
at Twin Oaks Convalescent Center in Alma after an extended illness.

She was born on April 11, 1922 in Bacon County where she has resided all her
life. She was a 1940 graduate of Rockingham High School where she was a member
of the basketball team. She retired from Bacon County High School as a
secretary. Mrs. Carter was also a member of First Baptist Church Alma where she
served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of Seekers Sunday School
Class.

She is the daughter of the late Jerry Kelly Miles and Sally Boatright Miles.
She is also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jackson Clarence
Carter, Jr.; and three brothers, Buck Miles, Burton Miles and Kenny Miles.

Survivors include three children, Jackie Carter Johnson (husband Zack) of Alma,
James Henry Carter (wife B ertha) of Alma, and Jeanene Carter Gilder (husband
Fred) of Glenwood; one brother, Jack Miles of Richmond Hill; her sister-in-law,
Kathleen Carter McDonald of Alma; nine grandchildren, Jackie Lee Johnson,
Jennifer Johnson Pope, Morris Johnson, Jack Johnson, Crystal Carter Epps,

Sadie L. Daniel Altman, 82, died Sunday evening (February 20, 2011) at Satilla
Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

She was born in Manor and had been a life-long resident of Ware County. She was
a graduate of Manor High School. She was the wife of the late Donald Macklin
Altman, Sr. and daughter of the late Carl David Daniel and Sallie Bishop
Daniel. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Cassie Mae Thompson and
Jean Pittman and two brothers, Rowan Daniel and Leroy Daniel.

She will be well remembered for having worked in food service at several local
restaurants for many years and was the former restaurant manager of McCroys and
later with the Okefenokee Golf and Country Club.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1957 and had been
active in the Mary-Martha Sunday School Class.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Macklin Altman, Jr. (with Pamela) of
Waycross, and Terry L. Altman (wife Ellen) of Milledgeville; a special niece
(thats like an adopted daughter) Delores "Punkie" Williams of Jacksonville, FL
seven grandchildren, Will Altman, Amy Jordan (husband Bill) Ashley Altman (wife
Rose) Daphne Altman, Jamie Bruner (wife Heather) and Cole Conley (wife Jessica)
all of Waycross, and Jeremy Altman of Alpharetta; seven great grandchildren,
Spencer Gordon, Matthew Jordan, Courtney Harris, Nicholas Chancey, Lana
Chancey, Benjamin Lee Bruner, and Etha Daniel Bruner; a sister, Marjorie

Sonja Bennett Grieco passed away peacefully at 8:42 a.m. Monday, February 21,
2011, after a courageous and valiant 21-year battle with cancer.

She was born August 9, 1963 and graduated from Ware Co. High School in 1981.
She was a member of the Marching Gator Band and was the feature baton twirler
for the Ware Co. majorettes. She graduated from Armstrong State College in 1986
as a dental hygienist and practiced dental hygiene for 23 years in Savannah,
Vidalia and Waycross. She grew up in Second Baptist Church in Waycross and had
been a member of First Baptist Church of Blackshear since 1996. She was a
member of the Gospel Partners Sunday School Class and was active in her church.

"She will always be remembered for her infectious laugh and smile, for her
kindness, strength, courage, faith in God, love for family and friends and her
zest for life. The way she lived her life in the face of adversity is a
testimony to her strong faith in God. She never gave up hope. She loved her
family, especially her two boys and her husband, more than life itself. She was
told that she could not have children after her first bout with cancer in 1990,
but God had other plans," said a family member.

The family would like to thank Dr. Yuval Naut, oncologist, Dr. Don Waters, Dr.
Susan Brickle, Dr. Jim Smart, Hospice Satilla, Pierce Home Health, Southeast
Cancer Unit, Blackshear Family Practice Lab, Shuman Healthcare, the First
Baptist Church family and friends, and everyone who made the last 3 1/2 years
of this difficult journey easier for her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Omer Kenneth "OK" Bennett; her
sisters, Sharon Renee Bennett Lindsey and Mammie Janice Bennett Youmans; her
grandfather, Ezra Lawton Bennett; her grandmother, Mammie Etta Young Bennett;
her grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Strickland; her grandmother, Bessie Johnson
Strickland, and numerous aunts and uncles.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 23 years, Paul Edward Grieco;
her sons, Bennett Paul Grieco and Matthew Brice Grieco; her mother, Videll
Strickland Bennett; her aunt and uncle, Jane and John Bennett; her uncle and
aunt, Northen Daniel (Knobby) and Betty Bennett; her guardian angel (and
cousin), Robin Bennett Harris, and a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews and
friends whom she considered family.

Visitation will take place from 6-9 p.m. (tonight) Wednesday, February 23 at
the First Baptist Church of Blackshear.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 24, from the First
Baptist Church of Blackshear with the Rev. Dr. Bill Young and the Rev. Richard
Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hephzibah Cemetery in the Dixie Union community of
Ware County.

The family will gather at the church at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, February 24, for a
meal prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Jim Smart, Tim Dame, Joe Harvey, Keith Crusan, James
Wilson, Jimmy Lynn, Timmy Liles, Tim Harris, Keith Ingalls and John Laurence.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Ware Co. High School Class of 1981 and
employees of the dental offices of Dr. John Hopkins and Dr. Jon Drawdy.

Mr. Bechiom is the son of the late William Aaron Bechiom and Ida Ivey Bechiom.
He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Nora Bechiom, Eugene Bechiom,
Watson Bechiom, Aron Charles Bechiom, Sr. and Naomi Bechiom Harrell.

operator after 30 years of service. She was a former member of Grace Chapel.

She is the daughter of the late Archie William Rowland and Rachel McKinnon
Rowland. She is the wife of the late Henry Melvin Davis, Jr.

She retired in 1987 as a sales associate from J.C. Penney after 22 years of
service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

of years during World War II. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Webster Byrd; and a brother, Monroe
Lynch.

Lilya Mae Thornton Smith, 92, of Waycross died Thursday morning (Feb.3, 2011)
at Baptist Village Retirement Communities. She was born in Pierce County to the
late Ellis Ross Thornton and Pinkie Cason Thornton. She graduated from
Blackshear High School in 1935 and moved to Waycross in the late 1930's after
she completed Cosmetology School. Mrs. Smith owned Lilya Mae's Beauty Shop for
twenty-five years and was a member of The Hairdressers Association. She was a
member of Central Baptist Church , Mary Martha Sunday School Class, Merry
Makers. Mrs. Smith taught Sunday School and the GA's, active in the flower
ministry and in later years volunteered in the office.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 46
years, D. M. Smith, Jr.; one sister, Vonice Knowlton; two brothers, Marshall
Cecil Thornton and David Lenton Thornton.

Survivors include one daughter, LaMae Williams (husband Jim), Eastman; two

(February 3, 1979 - February 5, 2011)

Jewelabee Marie Reliford Overby, 32, of Waycross died Saturday morning (Feb. 5,
2011) in Waycross from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. She was born
in Blackshear and lived all of her life in Waycross and Blackshear. Mrs. Overby
was a graduate of Pierce County High School. She attended the Nursing Program
at Waycross College and graduated from Okefenokee Technical College Commercial
Truck Driving Program and was currently employed with Coffee State Prison as a
Correctional Officer. During her training to be a Correctional Officer she
received the Highest Achievement Award in her class. Mrs. Overby was a member
of University Boulevard Church of God, GNA (Georgia Nurses Association),
American Hotrod Association, and enjoyed writing poems and had a poem published
in "Foxprints 2007 – 2008" a Waycross College Book.

Survivors include her husband, Harmon Edward Overby, Jr., Waycross; two
daughters, Sydney Christine Overby, Waycross, Taylor Alysse Overby, Waycross;
her mother, Judy Dubberly, Blackshear; her father; Albert Smith; one sister;

(March 16, 1926 - February 5, 2011)

Horace Jones Bearden, 84, of Waycross died Saturday afternoon (Feb. 5, 2011) at
Hospice of the Golden Isles (Glynn Co) after an extended illness. He was born
in West Minister, (Oconee Co) SC on March 16, 1926 to the late Miles Aldine
Bearden and Ellen Virginia Lawrence. Mr. Bearden graduated from Augusta
Military Academy in Fort Defiance, VA and Clemson University, The Clemson
Agriculture College, with a Bachelor of Science in Textile Manufacturing. Mr.
Bearden served his country in the United States Army with tours in Rhineland,
Central Europe and Japan. He was awarded the EAME Service Medal with two Bronze
Service Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. His
interest included being a private pilot and maritime adventurer, traveling and
was a nature enthusiast with a particular interest in ornithology. Mr. Bearden
was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a retired Investment Broker.

Along with his parents, Mr. Bearden was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas
Aldine Bearden, Second Lieutenant with the Air Force, his Paternal
Grandparents, John Milton Bearden and Sarah Ellen Lumpkin of South Carolina and
his Maternal Grandparents, Captain Joseph Henry Lawrence, MD and Marie Lucy
Jones of Virginia.

Survivors includes his wife of 26 years, Guinelle Morris Bennett Bearden of

Mary Ella Manning Johnson, 89, of Waycross died Wednesday morning (February 9,
2011) at her daughter’s residence. She was born in Brantley County and grew up
there in her childhood and later moved to Waycross with her husband. She and
her husband lived in Atlanta from 1964 – 2002 when she moved back to Waycross.
In Atlanta she was a member of First Baptist Church in Atlanta and worked in
Childcare in Church Nurseries and in Private Care. During the 1960’s she was a
member of the Atlanta Braves Wives Club. Making ceramics was her love.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maude Marie Griffin Walker and her
husband, Daniel Robert Johnson; one sister, Judy Burns; two great-
grandchildren, Haley Middleton and Tara Liles.

Agnes Boatright Flanagan. Mrs. Coover was raised in Waycross and had lived the
last fifty years in Jacksonville. She was a housewife who loved taking care of
her family. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Charles
Gerald Thomas, and two sisters, Emma Catherine Brooks and an infant sister.

Mr. Johnny Lee, 62, of Waycross died early Friday at his residence after an
extended illness. He was born in Waycross to the late J. L. Lee and Geneva
Carver Lee. Mr. Lee had made Waycross his home for all of his life. He worked
as a truck driver for Auto Transportation Company. Mr. Lee attended Waresboro
Church of God and Mount Green Church of God of Prophecy. He loved riding his
Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren. He always
loved visiting his mother's house where he could spend time with her, his
sisters and family. Along with his father he was preceded in death by a sister,
Ann Lee and a brother Jackie Lee.

Donald Richard Phillips
(September 23, 1939 - February 27, 2011)

Donald Richard Phillips, 71, of Waycross died Sunday afternoon at Satilla
Regional Medical Center. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Donald
T. Phillips and Ellen Phillips. Mr. Phillips retired from the United States Air
Force before moving and making Waycross his home ten years ago. Mr. Phillips
was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4502. He loved NASCAR, fishing
and cooking on his grill. He loved spending time with his dogs, Sunny, Grace,
Wee-Wee, Brown and Taco. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Shirley Howell Phillips, two daughters,
Lisa Bolton and her husband Denny of El Cirrito, California, Robyn Hildreth and
her husband Eric of Salt Lake City, Utah, five grandchildren, Riley Bolton,
Landon Phillips, Kylee Phillips, Ashton Hildreth, Addison Hildreth, a brother,
George T. “Jud” Phillips and his wife Kay of Albuquerque, New Mexico and
numerous other relatives.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday in the Miles-Odum Funeral
Home Chapel. A private burial will be held at a later date at Little Utah
Cemetery in Axson, Atkinson County, Georgia.

CARVER > James Steven Carver, 62, of Callahan (Nassau Co, FL) passed away
February 7, 2011. He was born November 13, 1948 in Waycross, Georgia to the
late James Willis and Faye Carver.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with
his family and friends and was an avid fisherman. He worked for Winn-Dixie
Astor Products for 35 years and for Cogburn Brothers for the past 6 years.

He is survived by his wife Connie Carver, 3-sons; Wayne Carver, David Carver
and Sean (Jeannie) Carver, 1-daughter ; Shannon Carver 3-sisters; Emma Jean
(Robert) Gorman, Sue (Mike) Sieke and Teresa (Rance) Cook. 3-grandchildren, 7-
nieces and 5- nephews, Many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his
parents and 1-sister; Shirley Carver Thomas and 2- nieces Active Pallbearers
are Wayne Carver, David Carver, Sean Carver Troy Carver Jamie Lyons and Dillon
Merritt.

The family will receive friends on Friday February 11, 2011 from 6-8 PM at
Nassau Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday February 12, at
11:00 AM at Jordan Greater New Congressional Methodist Church, 3592 Dixie Union
Highway Waycross, Georgia. With Pastor Lee Whittaker Officiating. Burial will
follow in Jordan Church Cemetery.

CORBETT William "Bill" E. Corbett, 82, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011.
He was born (29 Jan 1929) in Waycross, GA and resided in Jacksonville, (Duval
Co) FL.
He is survived by his wife of 41 blessed years, Ophelia Wood Corbett; children
Rosie Lowndes, Jim Raynolds and Holli Corbett; five fabulous grandchildren
Laura, Luke, Leah, Miriam, Marta, one on the way, Willa and his special furry
friend, Sophie; a brother, Jerry Corbett, nephew, Mike Davis and a host of many
relatives and friends.
During his lifetime, Bill was a member of the Shriners, American Legion and an
active member of Murray Hill Baptist Church.
The memorial service will be officiated by Dr. Doug Axtell held on Thursday,
March 3, 2011 at Murray Hill Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL with a
graveside service officiated by Reverend Nolan McDaniel at 5:00 on Thursday at Bethesida Methodist Church in Dublin, (Laurens Co) GA.
