Mrs. Leatrice W. White, 85, died Wednesday (November 2, 2011) at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Leatrice was a strong, loving matriarch who served God and her family with all her heart. She was the confidante, the consoler, the inspiration and, on occasion, the alibi for each of her beloved grandchildren. Ms. White was retired from John H. Swisher/King Edwards Cigars, where she spent a rewarding career in the company of beloved friends and colleagues to whom she referred as her “second family”. Leatrice will be most remembered for her steadfast commitment and dedication to family and friends.
She was a native of Ft. Pierce, FL but had lived most of her life in Ware County. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. White, Sr., her parents, Glen White and Ella Steedley White, a brother, Glen White, Jr. and a sister, Nell Davison.
Survivors include two sons, Geroge W. White, Jr. (wife Meriliss) of Blackshear and Robert C. White (wife Delores) of Atlanta; two daughters, Linda W. Davis (husband Wesley) of Brunswick and Susan W. White (husband Michael) of Atlanta; six grandchildren, George White, III, Norman White, Robert White, II, Gina Spearman, Wes Davis and Will White; six great grandchildren; a brother, E.C. White of Waycross and a sister Verma Wiley of Jackson, MS.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (November 6, 2011) at Zenith Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Saturday night from 5 until 7.

Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Summerlin Hamby, 91, passed away Saturday (November 5, 2011) at her residence in Waycross, GA.
She was a native of Atlanta, but she has resided in Waycross for 44 years. She was formerly employed by Avon Cosmetics in sales, where she was very successful because of her dedication, hard work and love of her customers whom she considered friends. She was affiliated with the Methodist faith.
She is the daughter of the late William M. Summerlin and Sarah N. Summerlin. She also is preceded in death by her devoted son, Robert Wayne Hamby and her loving husband of 57 years Robert Milton Hamby. Her brothers William B. Summerlin, J.T. Summerlin, Melvin W. Summerlin, and Glen T. Summerlin also predeceased her.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Holly Hamby Chesley (Chip), Robert Christopher Hamby (Emily), and Elizabeth Hamby Sherry (Charles); great grandchildren, Brennan and Lauren Chesley, and Sean Hamby. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Hazel S. Bailin, Charline S. Akers, Mary Lynn S. Westbrooks, Daniel W. Summerlin, D. Allen Summerlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday (November 9, 2011) at the Chapel of Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, GA. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, GA.

Lehura Taft Delk, 64, died Sunday night, (November 6, 2011) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was a native of Millwood and had lived most of her life in Waycross. She was the daughter of the late Leon Taft and Fannie Jane Wilson Taft. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Margie Barnett, Betty Murray, Josie Harper, and Ruby Sellers.
She was a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church of Albany and was a former demo coordinator with Sam's Club in Albany for fifteen years.
Survivors include her son, William Scott Shaver (wife Tonya) of Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren, Allison Shaver, Andrew Shaver, Isabelle Hickey, Austin Hickey, and Ethan Shaver; four siblings, Jack Taft (wife Shirley) of Pensacola, FL, Virginia Walden (husband Johnny) of Waresboro, Roy Taft of Waycross, and Dorothy Price (husband the late Glen) of Albany; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and her best friend, Bill Delk.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday (November 8, 2011) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Little Utah Cemetery near Axson, GA. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM Tuesday at Music Funeral Home.

Mr. Cecil L. Lightsey, 86, died Sunday morning (November 6, 2011) at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Metter after an extended illness.
He was a native of Appling County. He was a self-employed roofer and painter.
He is the son of the late Hiram Lightsey and Rena Boles Lightsey. He is also preceded in death by his son, Carson Lightsey.

Mr. W. Roy Beverly, Sr., 74, passed away Sunday night (November 6, 2011) peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends.
He was a native of Pierce County and a lifelong resident of Ware County. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Roy Beverly; a sister, Connie Louise Beverly; a brother, Larry Lee Beverly; his mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H.J. O'Steen; a sister-in-law, Loraine O. Carter and a brother-in-law, John M. O'Steen.
He was a retired salesman for Laughinghouse Wholesale and was a 1955 graduate of Wacona School. He was a member of High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife (they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary), Mary O'Steen Beverly of Waycross; a daughter, Angela Mardany of Jacksonville, FL; two sons, Roy Beverly (wife Sherry) and Eddie Beverly (Sheila Sowell) both of Waycross; six grandchildren, Roy Beverly, III, Brandy Beverly, Brady Mardany, Eddie Beverly, Jr. (friend Mandy Ruger), Ashley Williams (husband Justin) and Tess Beverly; his first great grandchild due November 24, Macade John Williams; his mother, Willie Mae Beverly of Waycross; two sisters, Bonnie Horton (husband Melvin) of Hoboken, Carolyn Hilton (husband John) of Waycross; two brothers, Ronnie Beverly (wife Mary Alice) of Waycross, Ray Beverly (wife Patsy) of Waresboro; a sister-in-law, Harriet White (husband Jimmy) of Callahan, FL; a brother-in-law, James O'Steen (wife Gloria) of Waynesville; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Georgia Louise O'Steen Bennett, 91, died early Monday morning (November 7, 2011) at Park Place Nursing Home in Monroe, GA after an extended illness.
She was a native of Bacon County, but she lived most of her life in Waycross. She retired from Hav-A-Tampa Cigar Company and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
She is the daughter of the late Jonathan OSteen and Sarah Lavina Lee OSteen. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Rudolph Bennett; one son, Rudy Bennett; five sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Mirinda Davis (husband Terry) of Mechanicsburg, PA; one daughter-in-law, Nell Bennett of Loganville; three grandchildren, Suzette Kostjal (husband George) of Mechanicsburg, PA, Nikole Davis of Lawrenceville, and Michael Bennett (wife Jennifer) of Monroe; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is the son of the late Leon Music and Francis King Music. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Roberts Music; and one son, James Desse Music.
Survivors include his daughter, Loretta Tillman of Deland, FL; two grandchildren, Randy Tillman (wife Deborah) of Ormond Beach, FL, and Lori Garcia (husband Paul) of Deland, FL; great grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Tillman, Kayla and Matthew Garcia.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Eugene Douglas; her parents, James Walter Tatum and Nancy Ada Pittman Tatum; four sisters, Lola Crawford, Lois Tatum Douglas, Ruby Tatum Griffis and Ida McDaniel; and three brothers, Elmer Tatum, Sammy Tatum and Adel Tatum. She was a member of Kettle Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church.

Joan A. Claybaugh, 73, died Wednesday afternoon (November 9, 2011) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was a native of Jacksonville, FL and had made her home in Waycross for the past thirty five years. She was preceded in death by brothers and a son, Richard W. Claybaugh.
She served with the rank of Private in the Women's Army Corps as a nurse at West Point from 1955 until 1957. She was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and had served as a den mother with the Boy Scouts and a Troup Leader with the Girl Scouts.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, Richard Claybaugh of Waycross, a daughter, Barbara Thompson (husband Graden) of Waycross; her daughter-in-law, Martha Claybaugh of Port St. Lucie, FL; three grandchildren, Richard L. Claybaugh of Ft. Pierce, FL , Graden M. Thompson, III of Waycross, and April Claybaugh of Ft. Pierce, FL; two great grandchildren, Madison Thompson of Waycross, and Michael Claybaugh of Ft. She was a native of Brantley County but had lived most of her life in Pierce County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur L. Batten; a daughter and son-in-law, Evonne and Morris (Bo) Tippins; a son, Travis Batten; her parents, John Lee and Nora Johns Lee; and a brother, John I. Lee.
Survivors include a son, Waldo Batten (wife Iris) of Blackshear; a daughter, Phillis Mock (husband J.W.) of Blackshear; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Batten of Blackshear; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

William Edward "Bill" Howell, Jr.

William "Bill" Howell, 56, died Friday afternoon (November 11, 2011) from injuries received in a motorcycle/ automobile accident.
He was a native of Ware County, a former resident of Atlanta and Tallapoosa, but had lived most of his life in Waycross. He was the son of the late William Edward Howell, Sr and was also preceded in death by his step-father Robert Carl Gibbs.
Bill was a project engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation where he had been employed for the past seventeen years. He was educated in the Ware County School System through the tenth grade and was a 1973 graduate of Waycross High School. He had also attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton. He was a member of Newbern Baptist Church but attended Liberty Baptist Church. He was a member and had held several offices within Alcoholics Anonymous, and was a member of the Lost and Found Group.
Bill was an avid motorcycle rider and had participated in several charity rides. He also loved his family, farming, friends, and helping other people. Bill was even able to help others through his death by being an organ donor.
Survivors include his son, William Carl "Billy" Howell (wife Dayla) of Register, GA; his mother, Lillian Dixon Howell Gibbs of Waycross; his fiancé', Julie Bagley of Waycross and her children Jay Bagley of St. Simons Island and Lindsey Rice of Waycross.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday (November 15, 2011) at Liberty Baptist Church. The famiy will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday at Music Funeral Home.
Memorialization will be by cremation.

Mr. Lamar Gibson, 83, died Monday (November 14, 2011) at the Hospice House Satilla after an extended illness.
He grew up on a farm in Charlton County during the "Great Depression" where he and his sisters got up every day at 4 a.m. to milk cows before going to school. He graduated in 1950 from the University of Georgia where he served as the football team manager under Coach Wally Butts and remained an avid "Dawg" fan all his life. As a soldier in the United States Army, he was stationed in Berlin, Germany during the early years of the "Cold War".
Mr. Gibson practiced law in Albany and Nahunta prior to coming to Waycross in 1954. For many years, he was a partner in Gibson, McGee, Blount and Jackson before retiring from Gibson and Associates in 2009. He also served as city court judge in Waycross. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the John Wesley Sunday School Class, Waycross Fishing Club, and the Waycross and Georgia Bar Association.
He is the son of the late Charles Henry Gibson and Jewell Barker Gibson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Jones Gibson; and one sister, Marjorie Johnson.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas Gibson (wife Delores) of Waycross, Dr. Rusty Gibson of Manor, and Jody Gibson (wife Heath) of Washington, DC; five grandchildren, Julie Gibson (husband Jeremie Strickland) of Denver, CO, Taylor Gibson of Blackshear, Addie Gibson (husband Craig Head) of Macon, Russ Gibson of Manor and Greta Gibson of Washington, DC; one sister, Ruby Still of Patterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jessie Daniel (J. D.) Hughes, Sr., 63, of Patterson, passed away early Tuesday morning (November 16, 2011) from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Born in Bacon County on May 22, 1948, he lived most of his adult life in Ware County. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked with CSX Railroad for 28 years until suffering from a debilitating stroke in 1996. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Pierce County, but attended Patterson Baptist Church in Patterson. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed the friendships of many members of Offerman Hunting Club in Pierce County. He also enjoyed and took great pride in maintaining his yards and tinkering in his workshop. His greatest loves in his life were his God, family, and deer hunting. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
He was the son of the late Myrtle (Hurst) Varnell and Jessie Deveraux Hughes of Bacon County. He was the grandson of the late Sallie Johnson and Thomas Pinkney Hurst of Pierce County, and Irene Douglas and James Isom Hughes of Bacon County.
Survivors include his wife and soul-mate of 41 years, Elaine Bennett Hughes of Patterson; three children, Jessie Daniel (Dan) Hughes, Jr. (wife Julie) of Virginia Beach, VA, Wendy Leigh Hughes (husband Steve Landrum) of Patterson, and Gregory Scott Hughes of Patterson; one sister, Jenell Hughes Elrod (husband Owen) of Wylie, TX; a sister-in-law, Kim Bennett Altman of Brantley County; a brother-in-law, Steve Bennett (wife Gail) of Moultrie; eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, five nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Silas Harmon, 81, died Wednesday morning (November 16, 2011) at Bacon County Hospital of Alma following an extended illness.
He was a native of Colquitt County but had lived most of his life in Waycross. He was the son of the late Rev. James Harmon, Sr., and Maxie Thomas Harmon. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Paul Harmon, Elijah Harmon, James Harmon, Jr, and Lucious Harmon; two sisters, Florence Cotton, and Julia Mae Johnson. He was a 1952 graduate of Center High School.
Mr. Harmon served his country as a paratrooper with the 101st Screaming Eagles of Ft. Campbell, KY of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a former equipment operator of Gilman Paper Company for ten years, and later retired in 1995 from the maintenance department of King Edward Cigar (Swisher International Group) after thirteen years of service. He was also the delivery person for several local drug stores for many years. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Harmon loved fishing and athletics. He had served as a coach for children's sporting activities for many years. In 1954 Mr. Harmon and Perry Bellamy were the first black players signed to play with the Waycross Bears Baseball Team and according to an article of the St. Petersburg Times as, "the first of their race to appear in the Class D Georgia-Florida Baseball League."
Survivors to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty four years, Emma Brown Harmon of Waycross; two sons, Steven Michael Harmon (wife Clisher) of Schertz, TX, and Geoffrey Raymon Harmon (wife Carol) of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Juanita "Sunshine" Anderson, Brianna Harvey, Justin Harmon, and Jeremy Harmon; four great grandchildren; a sister, Fannie L. Grayer (husband Willie) of Waycross; a brother, Ulysses Harmon of Pearson; In-Laws, Pauline Kirksey of Waycross, Bonnie Grimes of Jacksonville, FL, Maret T. Brown of Valdosta, Elijah Brown of Waycross, and Leroy Brown of Pueble, CO; special nephews, Donnell Harmon, Charzell Harmon, Michael Harmon, Freddie Harmon, and Anthony Harmon; special nieces, Emma Garard and Annette Murchison, Sadie Harmon Johnson, Sarah Harmon Dobbins, Joyce Harmon Davis, Linnie Harmon Brannon, and Maxie Harmon Rembert; and numerous other relatives.

Mrs. Rosalee Clark Buchanan, 83, died Wednesday (November 16, 2011) at Satilla Care Center following an extended illness with cancer.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was the daughter of the late John Clark and Alma Moody Clark. She was a homemaker and along with her husband owned and operated Buchanan's Cabinet Shop, closing it after his illness. Mrs. Buchanan was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Buchanan, sister, Ruby Clark Nelson, three brothers, Frank, Lonnie and Rubin Clark, half sister, Bessie Newborn Waters and half brother, Pace Newborn.

Mr. Wilburn Irvin Fletcher, 78, died Thursday morning (November 17, 2011) at Hospice House Satilla after an extended illness.
He was a native of Pavo, GA, but he has lived most of his life in Waycross. He was a retired iron worker that worked from Virginia to Miami, FL during his career. He attended New Life Assembly of God.
He is the son of the late Clayton Fletcher and Jessie Mae Swain Fletcher. He is preceded in death by three brothers, L. C., Jim and Dub Fletcher; and three sisters, Christine Bowen, Dolly Goss and Verna Mae Thrift.

Captain Richard Claybaugh, United States Army Retired, 74, died suddenly Sunday evening (November 20, 2011) at Satilla Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of McCoysville, PA and had made his home in Waycross for the past thirty five years. He was the husband of Joan A. Claybaugh who died November 9, 2011. He was the son of the late Fred Claybaugh and Mary Schafer Claybaugh. He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard W. Claybaugh.
Mr. Claybaugh was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and had been active in Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts with his children.
He retired with the rank of Captain with the United States Army in 1975 after twenty years of service with the. During his service he served a tour of duty in the Korean War and three tours of duty in the Viet Nam War with the 1st and 7th Calvary Divisions. His assignments included infantry, paratrooper, Special Forces and Quatermaster Brigade. He had been awarded many medals including the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, with three oak clusters, the Air Medal, along with numerous commendations for outstanding performance in the line of duty.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Thompson (husband Graden) of Waycross; three grandchildren, Richard L. Claybaugh of Ft. Pierce, FL, Graden M. Thompson, III of Waycross and April Claybaugh of Ft. Pierce, FL; two great grandchildren, Madison Thompson of Waycross and Michael Claybaugh of Ft. Pierce, FL; a step-granddaughter, Diane Usry (husband Tom) of Atlanta, a step- great granddaughter, Caroline Usry of Atlanta; a daughter-in-law, Martha Claybaugh of Port St. Lucie, FL; two sisters, Jean Worley of Lewistown, PA and Shirley Claybaugh of McCoysville, PA, and other relatives.

He was born in Bonifay, Florida but had lived most of his life in Charleston, SC. He was the son of the late William T. Walker and Carrie O'Neal Harrell Walker and was preceded in death by his wife, Alvena Fullwood Walker and a son, Charles Joel Walker.
He was retired after nineteen years with the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Walker was a member of Charleston Baptist Church.

Gene L. Cox, 70, died Friday morning (November 25, 2011) at Hospice House Satilla following an extended illness.
He was a native and life-long resident of Waycross. He was the son of the late George Leon Cox and Nita Blanche Crawford Cox.
He retired as a mail handler with the Waycross Post Office in 2007 after thirty years of service. He was a former officer with the Waycross Police Department during the 1970's and was awarded a Meritorious Service Award for Bravery in the line of duty. He was also a member of the first Special Weapons and Tactical Team (SWAT) of the Waycross Police Department. He was also a former delivery person with United Parcel service (UPS).
Mr. Cox was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Clement Evans Sons of the Confederacy, and enjoyed participating in Civil War Reenactments. He had also served with the Georgia National Guard. He was a big animal lover. Mr. Cox had recently written an article that was published in the Waycross Journal-Herald entitled �The Day That I Flunked Hookey 101�, recalling some of his school experiences in recognition of the four-year combined Ware County Class Reunion held recently.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Barbara Wilkinson Cox of Waycross; a daughter, Tina Cox Clark of Waycross; a son, Gary Cox (wife Donna) of Waycross; three grandchildren, Jacob Johnson (wife Wendy), Ashley Cox (fianc� Brandon Foreman), and Randall Music (fianc� Kayla Thrift) all of Waycross; and his mother-in-law: Vida Wilkinson of Waycross.

Mary Catherine Shiver, age 73, passed away on Friday (November 25, 2011) in Waycross, GA. She was the daughter of the late Betty Music Merritt Givens and Charlie Mack Merritt. She was born August 17, 1938, in Waycross. She was married to the late Ivey Edward Shiver. She was retired from Baptist Village as a Ward Clerk after twenty-one years of dedicated service.
She had one daughter who passed away in 1999, Tina Marie Smith Cade of Jacksonville. She is survived by four daughters by her first marriage: a daughter, Debbie Harris (Terry) of Waycross, their children, Marie Shiver, Heather Markle (Chris), Cody Harris; a daughter, Cathy Bennett (Rusty) of Waycross; their children Carmen Pierce, Chrissy Fraley (Clyde) & D.J. Simpson; a daughter, Janet Smith (Jim Carter) of Marietta; a daughter Pam Hiers(the late Randy Hiers) of Waycross; her children, Jeremy Haynes (Cameo) and April Brock. By her last marriage, a step-daughter, Linda Sweat (Rodney) of Blackshear; their children Jessica and Laura; a step-son, Greg Shiver of Florida. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and three step great-great grandchildren.

William Monroe "Monroe" Griffin, 60 died Saturday afternoon (November 26, 2011) at his residence following an extended illness.
He was a native and life-long resident of Ware County, and was the son of the late Homer Griffin. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Griffin.
He retired earlier this year as a machinist with CSX Railroad after forty-two years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1969 and was stationed in Germany.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross where she worked as a homemaker and bookkeeper at the family business Davis Amoco with her husband. She volunteered at Satilla Care Center for 18 years. She was a member of Brunel Street Church of God where she enjoyed cooking for church function, and was a member of the 1950 graduating class of Waycross High School.
She is the daughter of the late Marcus Lafayette Sports and Estella Ogden Sports. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Oliver Davis, Jr.; two brothers, Harry and J. E. Sports; and one sister, JoAnn Mobley.

Mrs. Jeannette Alice Wilder, 91, of Waycross died early Tuesday morning at the Hospice Satilla House after an extended illness. She was born in Lawtey, Florida to the late Arch Griffis and Alice Gunter Griffis. Mrs. Wilder had made Waycross her home for most of her life. She served in the United States Army during World War II. Mrs. Wilder worked as a bookkeeper for Reuben Brothers Shoe Factory until their closing and then went on to work part-time at Schreiber’s Bootery. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Martha Sunday School Class and the King Daughters.
Mrs. Wilder is survived by her daughter, Frankie Cox Ritchie and her husband James of Watkinsville, Georgia, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Cox Lucken of Locust Grove, Georgia and two great granddaughters, Emily Lucken and Ashley Lucken both of Locust Grove, Georgia.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday in the Chapel of Central Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in the Greenlawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday morning in the Chapel of Central Baptist Church beginning at 10 a.m.

Mr. Lewis E. Cox, 79, of Manor died early Wednesday at the V.A. Hospital in Lake City, Florida after an extended illness. He was born in Manor to the late Rufus H. Cox and Gussie L. Fitchett Cox. Mr. Cox had made Manor his home for all of his life. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for numerous companies including, Dixie Concrete, Thrift Construction, Lee Engineering, and most recently for Ivy Wood Products. Mr. Cox also worked for a period of time during the development of Cape Canaveral, Florida. He was a member of Zenith Baptist Church in Manor and was a veteran of the United States Army. In his spare time he loved nothing more than to go hunting or fishing. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert O. Cox and David Cox.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Clarice J. Cox of Manor, four children, Mary Elizabeth Griffin and her husband James of Phenix City, Alabama, Ronnie E. Cox and his wife Melissa of Blackshear, Debra C. Howell of Manor, Cindy E. Taylor and her husband Troy of St. Augustine, Florida, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three brothers, Leland Cox and his wife Pansy of Waycross, Shelton Cox and his wife Linda of Waycross, Danny Cox and his wife Anne of Kingsland, and three sisters, Clarine Warren and her husband Jimmy of Nashville, Georgia, Patricia Murray and her husband Ed of Augusta, Betty Jean Curry and her husband Leroy of Green Pond, Alabama and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was born in Clinch County to the late Fred Williams, Jr., and Clennie Melton Williams. Mrs. Martinez has made Waycross her home for all of her life. She was a graduate of the Ware County High School Class of 1970. Mrs. Martinez was a housewife who enjoyed music, singing and loved spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Williams, Jr., and a sister, Wanda Milligan.
Mrs. Martinez is survived by her husband, Vince Martinez of Waycross; one son, Roger D. Fowler, Jr. and his wife Kesha of Waycross; one daughter, Carly R. Martinez of Waycross; seven grandchildren, Chris Fowler, Olivia Fowler, Natalie Fowler, Santana Jones, Christian Jones, Elizabeth Fowler and Jude Shaw; her mother, Clennie Williams of Homerville; one brother, F. Miss Frances Idelle Quarterman
(October 11, 1919 - November 18, 2011)
Miss Frances Quarterman age 92, died Friday (November 18, 2011) at Satilla Care Center after an extended illness. She was a native of the Jones Creek Community, Long (then Liberty) County, but has lived in Waycross since the age of 3. Her parents were the late Joseph Thomas Quarterman and Idelle Horne Quarterman. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, former Journal-Herald editor James A. “Jim” Pinson. She was a graduate of Waycross High School and attended Georgia State College for Women, the University of Georgia Off-Campus Center and the Waycross Vocational School. For 30 years she worked as an accountant for the Ware County Department of Family and Children Services. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Waycross, the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School. She was previously a member of the Waycross Junior Woman’s Club, which she served as secretary. She was an elegant Southern lady known for her beautiful smile and happy manner. She enjoyed being with her family, cheering for the Atlanta Braves and playing bridge.
Survivors are her sister, Nelle Quarterman Pinson of Waycross, niece Jennifer Pinson Harvey (husband Patrick Harvey) of Lawrenceville and beloved great-nieces Virginia Christine Harvey and Kathryn Frances Harvey of Lawrenceville.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 410 Williams Street, Waycross, Georgia 31501, “Everyday with Love Fund” or to the Music Ministry.

She loved to cook and bake. She always had something for you to eat when you visited her home. She loved spending time with her family. She read her Bible and prayed daily. She always had a smile on her face and a heart full of love for everyone. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Webster Herrin, two sisters, Pearl Beverly, Ruby Dowling and three brothers, Harvey Crews, Jessie Crews and Owen Crews.

Cary Infinger Ryals, 87, died Monday (Nov. 21, 2011) at Hospice House Satilla after an brief illness. She was born in Terrell County, GA to the late C.M. and Hattie Pattillo Infinger. Mrs. Ryals was married to the late George Dewey Ryals, Jr. for 53 years until his death in 1993. They lived at Harriet’s Bluff for many years and moved to Waycross in 1993. She was a Past President of the District Woman’s Club and local Woman’s Club. Mrs. Ryals was a Master Quilter. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Wesley Infinger; two sisters, Ann Gibbs and Margaret Love.
Survivors include three children, Linda Willis (husband Franklin), Waycross, George D. Ryals, III (wife Fran), Stone Mountain, GA, Jane Brown (husband Brian), Dunwoody, GA; eight grandchildren, Robert Wesley “Bobby” Willis (wife Betty), Cary Ann Ferbrache (husband Carl), James Franklin “Buddy” Willis, Jr., Brian S. “Beau” Brown, IV (wife Jean), Sara Begley (husband Jay), George D. Marvin Curtis Hiott, 65, of Waycross died Thursday (Nov. 24, 2011) at his residence after a short illness. He was born in Ware County to the late Elvie “Pate” and Rosie Joiner Hiott and lived here all of his life. Mr. Hiott was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps where he served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Brunel Street Church of God.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Curtis Marvin Hiott; one daughter, Ginger Ann Selph; one grandson, Jason Day; two granddaughters, Alyssa Holton and Faith Barker; one sister, Christine Hiott.

Mrs. Annie Lee Westberry, 76, of Waycross died Thursday at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Brantley County to the late Henry Lee and Minnie Griffin Lee. Mrs. Westberry made Brantley County her home before moving to Waycross in 1954. She was a housewife and a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. Mrs. Westberry loved to take care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook, sew and work with her husband in their flower garden. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester Lee, Edward Lee, J.H. Lee, Lawrence Lee and two sisters, Elizabeth Heath and Gertrude Lee.

Mrs. Lois Patricia Windhaus, 77, of Yulee, Florida died Wednesday night at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Atkinson County, Georgia to the late Richard Metts and Mollie Anderson Metts. Mrs. Windhaus had made Yulee her home since 1957. She was employed with the Nassau County Board of Education as a school bus driver for thirty years. Mrs. Windhaus was a member of Hedges Baptist Church in Yulee. Mrs. Windhaus loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved watching all the children she drove on her school bus grow up into fine men and women. Mrs. Windhaus always enjoyed going to her favorite store J.C. Penney to shop. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Hickox and a brother, Grady Metts.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon T. John Rollins Campbell - MOORESVILLE, NC - John Rollins Campbell, 78, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 in Mooresville, NC. He was born on January 19, 1933 in Waycross, GA, to the late Walter Elijah and Verna Britt Campbell.
He was a veteran serving in the US Air Force. Mr. Campbell graduated from University of Georgia, where he played football. He was a retired Vice President from Sysco at Imperial Sugar Company and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Mooresville, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walt Campbell.

Robert Allen Conner, 75, of Macclenny (Florida) died November 5, 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Waycross, GA on February 18, 1936 to the late Wash Allen Conner and Ruth Catherine Youmans Conner. Robert was a resident of Macclenny for 39 years after moving from Jacksonville in 1972. He was a 1955 Andrew Jackson High School graduate and a member of Spring Glen United Methodist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. Robert was also a member of Dawkins Masonic Lodge # 60 of Macclenny where he served as the longest serving secretary in the State of Florida.
Mr. Conner retired on December 1, 1995 from the Federal Reserve Bank after 40 years and he served his country for 10 years in the Air National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, camping and being outdoors. He was a great handyman and an avid Gator fan.
Survivors include his loving wife Sandra Dianne Seymour Conner of Macclenny; children Pamela A. (Matthew) Corbin of Live Oak, Sheri L. (Bryan) Boulay and Keith P. (Sheree) Conner, both of Jacksonville; sister Ruth Geneice (Sammie) Peterson; granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Corbin; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, November 9 at 11:00 am at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services Chapel in Macclenny with Reverend Eric Burch officiating.

Frances O'Quinn Moore - SAVANNAH - Frances O'Quinn Moore, 90, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in Savannah, GA.
Mrs. Moore was born in Waycross, GA on July 29, 1921, the daughter of the late Frank Robert and Vivian Harris O'Quinn. Frances grew up in Atlanta, GA and moved to Savannah in 1948. She was a graduate of Commercial High School. She was employed by Great Dane Trailers where she worked as the Executive Secretary to the President and CEO of the company as well as others before retiring after over 30 years of dedicated service. She was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church of America and recently attended Kirk O' the Isles Presbyterian Church (PCA).
Mrs. Moore was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Robinson and husband Dave of Savannah; grandsons, David Quinn Robinson and wife Chara Quinnelly Robinson of Richmond, VA and Brian Rooke Robinson and wife Nicole Fortin Robinson of Charleston, SC; great-grandchildren, David Riley Robinson, Lucille Frances Robinson and Eliza Beliveau Robinson.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Kirk O' the Isles Presbyterian Church (PCA) with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

James Albert Winn - SAVANNAH - James Albert Winn, 66, came to an eternal rest on November 25, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Winn was born in Waycross, GA on July 15, 1945, the son of the late Daniel R. and Evelyn Swain Winn. He served in the United States Air Force and was employed by Colonial Oil Industries where he retired after 32 years of dedicated service.
Mr. Winn is survived by his sons, James M. Winn, Ray Winn and Brian Winn, all of Savannah and Adam Shuman of Pembroke, GA; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Susie Elliott of Ellabell, GA; brother, Danny Winn of Savannah and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He is also survived by his longtime caregiver and companion, Barbara Johnson of Savannah.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers are accepted or remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.

RUMPH > Margaret F. Rumph, 89, of Jacksonville FL. passed November 25, 2011. Margaret was born the youngest of twelve children, on March 21, 1922 to Casper and Bernadine Fechtel in Waycross, Georgia. She moved with her family to Jacksonville Florida at age 4 where she graduated from Immaculate Conception High school. She was an outstanding member of the girls basketball team. Margaret married Bert Rumph in Jacksonville on May 2, 1941. She was a master gardener, a judge for flower shows, and an avid garden club member. She was a golfer in her earlier years and a member of many types of groups in Jacksonville including PEO. She enjoyed bridge and music and traveling with her friends, family and her husband. She was a devout member of Assumption Catholic Church and devoted a lot of her time to different group efforts for years before her physical disabilities caused her to step down.
She is survived by her two children Hugh Rumph and Peggy Osterhout, both of Jacksonville Fl. Her only surviving brother, Dr. Albert Fechtel, is also in Jacksonville. She had one granddaughter, Jill OConnor of Neptune Beach, and her great grandchildren Cassidy, Zada and Sophia OConnor. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Assumption Catholic Church 2403 Atlantic Blvd. Jacksonville FL 32207 Father Fred Parke as Celebrant.
