She married (1) Oscar Dennis Chastain2 13 Apr 1904 in Wilcox County, GA2. He was born 30 Sep 1880 in Palestine, TX2, and died 13 May 1918 in Wilcox County, GA2. He was the son of James Chastain and Malvena Pitts.

Notes for Mary Josephine McDuffie:
Mary Josephine ( Mollie ) McDuffie was born 07 Jan 1883 in Wilcox County, GA. Her parents are Daniel McDuffie and Elizabeth Whitfield Ball. She married Oscar Dennis Chastain 13 April 1904. Oscar was a Traveling Photographer. Oscar was born 30 Sep1880 in Palestine, Texas. They had eight children. My mother Alice Viola was the third child. They made their home on a farm out from Rochelle and Pitts, GA.

Daniel and Elizabeth McDuffie, my great grandparents, were living with them at the time of their deaths. About a year later Oscar Chastain, my grandfather, caught the measles from one of the children. He then had pneumonia and died 1918.

Mary (Mollie) stayed on the farm for some time raising the children. Later she went to Florida to stay with some of her children. She let some one work the farm and they were to pay the taxes which they did not do. She didn't know it until some one bought the property for the taxes.

My grandmother Mary Josephine McDuffie Chastain never re married and lived in Florida until her death. She and her husband Oscar Chastain are buried at Smith Davis Cemetery out from Rochelle, Wilcox County, GA.
