I am looking for info on the family of John D. Leggett who was born in Wilkes Co., Georgia in 1812. He married Elizabeth Hicks on 10/3/1833 & moved to Barbour Co. Alabama. According to the census records his dad was born in England, but I have no name. I am descended from John & Elizabeth's son William Thomas. There is family "lore" that we have Shawnee blood through a marriage somewhere back there, too. Can someone please help?
