I read your post where you said your ancestor was Edward Echols or Eckles. If I understand it right he had a son named Nathan Echols who lived in Wilkes co Ga. I am trying to find who the parents of my ancestor Jane or Nancy Jane Echols who was born about 1779 (I don't know where) and who married Solomon Ray in 1796 in Wilkes co Ga. I found a record where a Hammett married Elizabeth Echols and she was the daughter or granddaughter of Nathan Echols. I found a record also where a William Head and his wife Henrietta Ray and a William Hammett and his wife applied for a passport to travel to indian county which was probably in Alabama but it might have been in the part of Ga that was still considered indian county.I believe Henrietta Ray might have been the sister of Solomon Ray who married Jane or Nancy Jane Echols in 1796 in Wilkes co Ga. They lived in Clarke co Ga at the time. They had lived in Wilkes co Ga before that. William Head and Henrietta Ray's daughter married a Hammett. Since a Hammett married Elizabeth Echols and since her father or grandfather was Edward Echols I thought maybe there was a connection between Nathan Echols or Eckles and the Rays in Wilkes co Ga which would mean Jane Echols or Nancy Jane echols might have descended from the Edward Echols or Eckles line. There was an Edward Eckles living in Wilkes co Ga in the 1790's close to where Solomon Ray lived. I do not know if Edward Echols descended from Richard Echols who was the son of John Echols and Mary Cave. Apparently most of Richard echols's children went to Wilkes co ga and Oglethorpe co Ga
