Actually, I think "Ellender" as a given name is much more common than we'd tend to think. I've seen it used as a given name throughout the entire Atlantic coast from the late 1600s through the late 1800s. I've found it used interchangeably with Ellen, Ellinor, Eleanor, etc.
I'm also looking for an Ellender "Ellen" who was probably from the Wilkinson Co., GA area. Henry Taunton (b. c1800), who lived in Wilkinson and Crawford Cos., GA before moving to Tallapoosa Co., AL c1840 had a wife named Ellender, who he married probably c1820-1825 while living in Wilkinson Co., GA. She was also born c1800. Does anyone out there have any "unnaccounted for" Ellenders who might fight as Henry Taunton's wife?
