Classification: Query
Hi, Erica,
First, if your relative Armedia was born in 1877, she was never a slave to anyone. The Civil War essentially ended in April 1865, and shortly thereafter slavery in the South came to an end as well.

Second, if you have all census records for Armedia, it would be helpful if you gave her husband's name and where they lived. Her name is not going to show up on many search engines if he was the head of household, and it would be good to let others see the records you're looking at. Without his name, it might take someone a while just to find any of her Texas census records. You do have a problem though if she is married by 1900 because the only earlier census record where her name would show up would be the 1880, but under her maiden name. Even if you find it, you still wouldn't know for sure that it was the right little girl, apart from some other clues.

As for birth records, the State of Georgia did not require birth certificates until about 1920 (my dad was born there in 1913, and he didn't even have one). Census records may be about the only records there are with your relative's name on them. I'm just saying that you may be looking for records that don't exist.

You might want to rewrite a query and submit it to some other forums where more people may see it. I would suggest the "Georgia - Unknown" forum here or the Record Look-Ups Genforum at http://genforum.genealogy.com/recordlookups/
