Do you have any information on General Winfield Scott Hancock and/or his descendents??

Born: February 14, 1824, (Montgomery Square) Lansdale, Pennsylvania
Died: February 9th, 1886, New York City

Buried in Norristown, Pennsylvania

Father and Mother: Benjamin F. and Elizabeth (Hoxworth or Hawkesworth)
Hancock
also had a twin brother named: Hilary

His grandfather John Hoxworth came to Montgomery County of Pennsylvania
in 1728
living in Hatfield Township near Lansdale. Mr. Hoxworth married a
Jenkins
Edward Hoxworth their son was Elizabeth's father.

Benjamin's father was Richard Hancock, who was a Seaman and wed to
a Scottish lass named Anna Maria Nash who lived near the Hoxworth farm.

The family has English, Welsh and Scottish Heritage

Benjamin Franklin Hancock was a lawyer, the family was moved to
Norristown
in 1827
also he became a deacon in the Baptist Church of Norritown and was
elected town burgess in 1841

Winfield Hancock married Almira Russell who's family was living in St.
Louis
they were married on January 24th, 1850

Their first child, was a boy named Russell born on October 29th, 1850 in
St.Louis
Their second child, a girl named Ada was born on February 24th, 1857 in
Fort Myers, Florida

Russell Hancock was married and had three children Ada, Gwyn and Almira
he died on December 30th, 1884 in Mississippi

Ada Hancock died on March 28th, 1875, New York City
she is buried in Norristown in the same tomb as her father

I don't know if all of this information helps but I would think if we
could find a descendant of one of Russell Hancock's three children we might be able
to learn more about the General.
