Thanks for the quick reply, Matt. I already had the byui info, and was hoping for a local look-up that might shed more light on the groom. In some of my old Kentucky records, for example, the local books listed the names of parents of each person, as well as others who might have been witnesses.
The groom in this case, in my Adams line, appears to have changed his first name for this wedding. All previous records have him by a different first name, with Milton (vs. Melton) as middle, and of course the surname still Adams. His military enlistment and SSDI records both use the assumed new name of Bill, but all previous records in census and on his own birth certificate (prepared in 1939) list him as Robert Milton Adams.
