From the Idaho Statesman, January 9, 1996, pg. B-4:
Eunice M. Wheatley
Eunice M. Wheatley, 68, died Friday, Jan. 5, 1996, at her home in Boise. This lovely Lady died following a courageous and dignified battle with multiple myeloma.
There will be no memorial service as per her wish. Cremation is under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.
To mourn their loss, she leaves among others, her husband of 46 years, Jim; her daughter Julie A, Heitz and her husband, Randy; her son, John K. Wheatley and his wife, Su; and a total of four terrific grandchildren, Kelly, Chaney, Sarah and Nick, all of whom she loved deeply.
Rather than an obituary as such, Eunice would have preferred an open letter of gratitude and farewell to her many friends and associates. Included among those are Dr. S. Hugh Atchley, Jr., her extraordinary physician and a man whom she considered a wonderful and caring friend; his marvelous nurse, Chris Ward, who is unsurpassed in levels of sensitivity and talent and who will be long-remembered by the family; Dr. James Wallace, formerly of St. Al’s Cancer Treatment Center; and the group of highly-trained nurses and radiation technicians who treated Eunice on a daily basis for so long and never ceased to smile: Lynn, Shannon, Susie and Kerry, as well as the staff of Mountain States Tumor Institute, who were both kind and generous with their knowledge and abilities.
Finally, Eunice’s family wishes to thank Mary L. Langenfeld, R.N. and CEO of Life’s Doors Hospice, and her staff, for the fine services they render and for having doors that truly are always open.
Though all of us who knew and loved her are sad for ourselves that she died, we take much solace from the realization that she is now happy and pain-free. We look forward to out next meeting.
Eunice Wheatley was, indeed, a classy Lady.
I hope that this helps.
