Layton, UT - Joan Bunderson Mattson, our beautiful, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully at Ogden Regional Medical Center on Monday, July 23, 2012 from congestive heart failure. She was born a twin daughter of Bert D'Orr and Verona Roberts Bunderson on January 19, 1943 in St. Charles, ID.

Joan graduated from Fielding High School in Montpelier, ID. She attended Stevens Henager Business College and later on continued her education from Behavioral Genetics Institute and received her graduation certificate. She married Leslie Val Mattson on March 15, 1963 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 23 years and later divorced but still remained friends.

Joan worked at Hill Air Force Base for a number of years. She had many hobbies and favorite pastimes which included going to plays and movies, reading, studying and spending time with her family. She had a passion for learning and was a very gifted writer. She wrote many beautiful tributes for people as well as inspirational poems, one of which was published.

Joan is survived by her five children, Brian (Julie) Mattson, Valerie (Joseph) Luoma, Boyd (Karma) Mattson, Sherri (Robert) Trujillo, and David (Sonya) Mattson, her two sisters, Nona Marie Bunderson and Jean (Norris) Jones. She had 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Carol Ann Bunn.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28th, 2012 at the Lakeland Ward LDS Chapel in Layton, UT. Interment and graveside services were held at St. Charles, ID. Funeral arrangements were intrusted to Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier, ID.
