MONTPELIER — LaRee Wallentine Bird, 93, was born on June 18, 1919, to Darwin Wallentine and Rowean King Hess in Montpelier, Idaho. She passed from this life at 3:20 a.m. August 7 at the North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful, Utah.
She was raised in Montpelier and Married Floyd H. Bird on June 24, 1936, in the Salt Lake Temple. She and Floyd had been married for 72 years when he passed away in January of 2010. They had a son, Terrell Floyd Bird (Judy) of Woods Cross, Utah. They had four granddaughters, Richelle (Travis) Bradley of Woods Cross, Utah, Terrilee (Brian) Olney of Layton, Utah, Marissa (Jeff) Jones of Yucca Valley, Calif., and Ameedaun Seelye of Tremonton, Utah. They were proud great-grandparents of 14 great-grandchildren.
LaRee worked for over 30 years at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital as a bookkeeper and office manager. She also served as Primary president and many teaching positions in the LDS Church.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and spent countless hours in activities with her grandkids. She loved to go with Floyd in their trailer and had a great love for nature and the out-of-doors.
Even though she enjoyed traveling, she would always say that there was no place like Bear Lake which she loved to come home to. She was always a wonderful example of caring and compassion. We will miss her but we know that Floyd is rejoicing to have her with him again.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11 at 1 p.m. in the Montpelier Second Ward Chapel, located at 585 North Eighth St. Friends visited with the family at Matthews Mortuary on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., and will on Saturday at the church from noon until 12:45 p.m. The burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery, with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary.
