POCATELLO — Ella Marie Gianchetta, 86, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012, while in the company of family members at a Rexburg care center. She was born on February 10, 1926, in Bennington, Idaho, to Nathaniel Holmes and Chrissie Tressa (Long) Weaver.

Ella Marie married Joseph Gianchetta on May 18, 1947, in Lincoln, Idaho. They had two children, Sandra and Rodney.

Prior to her marriage, Ella Marie worked as a telephone operator. She was coowner with her husband of the Pitcher Inn located on Center Street in Pocatello. She also worked as a donut fryer at University Bakery for several years while being a homemaker and raising her family.

Ella Marie had many hobbies and interests which included sewing, quilting, crafts, cooking, gardening and bowling. Her main interest was her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was active in Relief Society. She was also a member of T.O.P.S (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and enjoyed the Pinochle Club.

Ella Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, her daughter, Sandra, her brothers, David (Ruby) and Lawrence Weaver, and sister, Melba (Darrell) Empey. She is survived by her son, Rodney (Gayla) Gianchetta; sisters, Louise (Ross) Clement and Lorraine (Paul) Stock. She is also survived by four grandchildren , Shayne Gianchetta, Jeremy Gianchetta, Cindy Gianchetta and Shaune Chandler; as well as 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, with a viewing beginning one hour prior to services at Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield Ave., Pocatello, Idaho (208) 233-0686.

Those who wish may contribute to a charity of choice in Ella Marie’s name or to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund through any LDS Ward.
